The "Painting" Life of Humanistic Master Gan

Rhinoceros skin painting is the most distinctive traditional craft in Huizhou, and it is the only lost skill. This technique originated in the Tang Dynasty and was popular in the Southern Song Dynasty, but it was lost in modern times.

Anhui rhinoceros skin paint does not paint, but it hides unpredictable texture in the big paint. It takes a year to make China lacquerware, and it has to be painted and polished countless times. In the end, all the good things appeared, fixed at the moment of bathing, as if it were a year's gamble.

On June 6th, 20 17, # Great Craftsman # released a documentary on the Internet about the legend of the revival of China lacquerware, which aroused widespread media attention and forwarding. Netizens have expressed admiration and admiration: Huizhou lacquerware is amazing in the beauty of the world! Great craftsman! Great Huizhou lacquerware!

This Huizhou uncle instantly became popular all over the country. Huizhou lacquer painting is a national representative inheritor and a master of arts and crafts in China.

I've been making lacquerware all my life, and I should be able to do it well. ? -Willing to do so.

Willing to do one thing, you are not prepared at the beginning.

Gan Tangke began to study carpentry after graduating from junior high school, and also studied painting and sculpture. 1979 entered Anhui Tunxi Lacquerware Craft Factory, 1985 transferred to Tunxi Arts and Crafts College, and began to contact bodiless lacquerware.

These experiences laid the foundation for him to devote himself to rhinoceros skin paint technology.

Lacquerware originated in China, but flourished in Japan.

In the prosperous Tang Dynasty, after the lacquer craft spread to Japan, it was highly praised and carried forward by the Japanese. Japan is also praised as "the country of lacquer art" by the west. Like China in China, the original translation of Japanese English name is lacquerware.

As the birthplace of lacquerware, China lacquerware culture is profound, but with the passage of time, this craft gradually declined.

Seeing that our culture and art have been carried forward by other countries, we can swear in our hearts: "I want to be the best lacquerware."

The choice is very important, that is, go all the way and never look back.

1999, in order to be the "best lacquerware", Gan, who was not confused, closed the antique shop with rich income and devoted himself to the research and production of rhinoceros skin lacquerware technology. This undertaking does not bring good income, but requires a lot of time, energy and financial resources.

I didn't watch the samples of this craft, but there were only a few words recorded in the book. Ganke doesn't even know if he can walk this road, but he said, "The choice is very important, that is, go all the way and never look back."

Instead of choosing what everyone is keen on, he chose a difficult and lonely road-rhinoceros leather paint.

I am willing to use carpentry for ten years to lay the foundation, work for ten years to learn technology and practice my mind in the sea for ten years. I know painting, carpentry, sculpture and fine design. It was ten years of persistence that made him.

He said, "What are you going to do if you don't do this? I don't want Huizhou lacquerware to be followed. "

After nearly 30 years of continuous exploration, innovation and practice, he revived the rhinoceros skin lacquer and lacquer sand inkstone (an inkstone made of lacquerware) and made them revive, so he was named the national inheritor of Huizhou lacquerware decoration technology.

20 1 1 Gan's lacquer work "Red Jinfeng Pear Paint Round Box" was permanently collected by the Palace Museum in Beijing. His artistic path is the practice and interpretation of the simple and tenacious craftsman spirit.

It took him ten years to restore the lost rhinoceros lacquerware skills, and his works were permanently collected by the Palace Museum. Japanese painters bowed their heads and praised him. He hoped that China lacquerware would return to the oriental stage.

/kloc-started making handicrafts at the age of 0/5. With a savvy introduction, I am willing to restore my rhinoceros skin painting skills for 30 years. His works are permanently collected by the Palace Museum. He wants to use his own efforts to create shocking works and let the world know that the best lacquerware is in China.

For gan tangke, "it doesn't matter if you can't do your best today, there will be tomorrow;" It doesn't matter if you can't do the best tomorrow, there will be the day after tomorrow, even for a lifetime. As long as you keep doing it, you will be the best one day. Do one thing in your life and you should be able to do it well. " This sentence may be his "ingenuity"!

Rhino lacquerware, slow work makes fine work, and it will be changed in this life for a thousand years.

Rhinoceros skin painting is the most distinctive traditional craft in Huizhou. During the Southern Song Dynasty, lacquerware with rhinoceros skin paint was presented as a tribute to the royal family. It is difficult for ordinary people to find a piece, and craftsmen of all ages regard the complicated production process of rhinoceros skin paint as a secret method.

People pay attention to lacquerware, and pay more attention to the painting process of lacquerware surface, because this is the most obvious and attractive.

It is a willing belief that every step of a good thing should be perfect from beginning to end. If you want to do it, start with the most basic lacquer bone. It takes at least one year to make a lacquerware and complete the whole process.

It takes twelve steps to make lacquerware. The first step is to draw a sketch, including size, shape, pattern, needed materials, and think it over and over again.

Step two, pulling gypsum blank. Cover the prepared gypsum evenly on the straw, and then carefully draw the blank until it is made into an easily adjustable gypsum model.

Lacquer tires are mostly wooden tires, other ceramic tires and metals, as well as metal tires and leather tires. In order to make the fetal bone firm, old nanmu or old ginkgo wood is generally used, which is delicate and firm and not easy to deform.

The third step is to trim the blank. Usually put the plaster model in a conspicuous place, look at it several times, and then change it if you are not satisfied, until you feel excited when you see it inadvertently, and the model is confirmed.

The fourth step is paint mixing. The powder made of traditional ancient tiles by firing and grinding, mixed with lacquer, has the strongest viscosity and is helpful to the stability of fetal bones.

Gan Tangke has been dealing with paint for a week since he first bought, squeezed and filtered it. I was glad I wasn't allergic to paint. This is a natural painting material.

But it didn't last long. After half a month, he was itchy all over and covered with raw lacquer sores. He recovered by applying leek juice to his body every day.

After the paint is mixed, the paint ash is brushed on the plaster tire layer by layer, which is the fifth step of ash approval. Then the summer cloth woven from ramie with great toughness is pressed on the fetal bone, which is the sixth step of cloth mounting.

To complete a fetal bone, it is necessary to repeatedly batch ash and frame cloth, fill the gaps in the summer cloth with paint ash, wait for the carcass to dry in the shade once in each batch, and then repeat this process for several months at a time.

After the gypsum is repeatedly piled up, the seventh step will be born to achieve the desired thickness. Tear off the rope inside the fetal bone, dig out the plaster, and leave a fetal bone completely composed of paint, grass cloth and paint ash, which will not rot for thousands of years.

The eighth step is to make concave-convex texture on fetal bone, which is called "beating", and beating is the key to making rhinoceros skin painting.

The final pattern is determined by shape, direction and height, which is the mystery that rhinoceros skin lacquerware can form exquisite texture without painting or painting.

Traditional rhinoceros skin pigments are mostly yellow, red and black. Lacquer is dark, so you can directly use the brightest gold foil instead of yellow paint and create your own golden rhinoceros skin paint, which is the ninth step in making rhinoceros skin paint.

Paint. The paint needs to be brushed 40 times repeatedly, and each brush needs to be thoroughly dried in the shade before it can be continued.

When the paint is dry, it is the eleventh test step-polishing. Four layers of paint add up to only the thickness of a piece of paper. Rhino skin paint loses its texture after polishing, which is equal to waste.

Therefore, we should be willing to rub it repeatedly between these small steps. Where there are bumps, there will be gold lacquer rings in the polished places, with distinct layers and dense flows.

The last step of paint making is to polish the paint surface. What we are willing to pursue is that the paint surface is bright without any scratches, which is not available in previous lacquerware.

Therefore, he insisted on using his hands instead of tools for the final polishing. He said: "Only the skin and experience of the palm can feel the temperature and frequency of pushing light on the paint surface, thus forming a delicate and crystal-clear surface texture."

From many attempts to repairing rhinoceros skin paint technology, I made the first satisfactory work, which was used for 10 years. 20 1 1, the rhinoceros skin paint work "Red Jinfeng Pear Paint Big Round Box" made by Gan Neng was permanently collected by the Palace Museum.

20 16 Gan's works "Tianshi Bottle with Blue Gold Point and Rhinoceros Paint" and "Eight-edged Clear Bottle with Down and Antlers Sand" were collected by the National Museum.

In 20 17, Jiang Qionger's work "Like a Garden"-"Red and Golden Spotted Rhinoceros Skin Pigment World Cover Box" was collected by the British Museum.

"Lacquerware and painted things are two different things. Lacquer is something that becomes a utensil, that is, we often say that a person can become a great utensil. " I'd like to say that. "inseparable."

Liyang Old Street in Tunxi, Huangshan, far away from the noise and glitz, has its own ancient and elegant Zen meaning. Gan's studio, a master of lacquer art and a representative inheritor of national intangible cultural heritage projects, is located here.

His lacquerware works are displayed in the bright hall on the first floor, including a warm red and gold spotted rhinoceros skin paint bowl, a quiet green and gold spotted rhinoceros skin paint diamond flower box, a gorgeous colorful lacquered teapot and a quaint staghorn sand incense burner. If a stranger comes in to visit curiously, and Gan happens to be downstairs, he will kindly introduce lacquerware to others.

In his 60 s, he wore a neat white shirt, his white hair was not messy, his narrative was orderly, and his tone was calm and gentle, like a quiet scholar.

Only the nails reveal different information, and there is black paint ash under the nails, which is the trace of his hand.

What he values is the "degree" of doing things and being a man, and also the creed of "being as gentle as jade".

In the eyes of people around you, the sweetness of life is extremely strict with craftsmanship and has not relaxed at all. But he has always been gentle, gentle in words and deeds, not angry with others, and rarely anxious. Quite a gentleman's wind-polishing your temperament is like polishing your beloved lacquer ware.

A perfect work is not made by hand, but by heart, so that the work can stand and be handed down. His works are only customized for individuals who love the traditional crafts of China and the traditional culture of China. They are made in China, for the sake of craftsmanship and immortality.

As a high-level expert in the field of traditional culture in China, his activities are much more entertaining, but he is still low-key and indifferent. He is not secretive about his skills, but active in university lecture halls and TV network media to publicize and show people ancient and mysterious traditional skills.

In order to better inherit Huizhou lacquer craft, Gan took seven students, and now they have been able to operate independently and use various lacquer-making techniques flexibly, which can help Gan make lacquerware. But even so, you can only make a dozen or twenty dollars a year.

After graduating from Fudan University, Gan Fei, the daughter of Gan, devoted herself to promoting her father's lacquerware. This is the best way to inherit!

"A person's achievements can only form a peak. Only when more people succeed can lacquer art reach a plateau. " He said.

As long as you keep doing one thing and keep doing it, you will be the best one day.

Do one thing all your life and you should be able to do it well.

* * * Whatever you want.
