Talking about purple sand in the sky from a learned purple sand print

Since the literati made the teapot, it has been branded with art. Carving on the surface of the teapot will make the simple teapot more beautiful, and the exquisite carving and rough knife marks on the notch will increase the aesthetic feeling of the teapot.

Raw engraving and cooked engraving

The surface carving of teapot can be divided into raw carving and cooked carving, and the traditional carving is based on knife. And most of the carving, that is, carving on the surface of green embryo teapot, is also called green carving.

Due to the development of modern technology, in addition to the traditional pottery carving, the cooked embryo carving, also known as cooked carving, began to appear on the surface of the teapot.

Wet etching and dry etching

Green carving can be divided into wet carving and dry carving, and now "dry carving" is the majority.

Wet engraving: It means that the surface of the teapot needs a period of time to evaporate, whiten and harden after the polishing needle is completed. During this period, tools were used to describe the surface of the blank.

Dry engraving: after the teapot body is placed for a period of time, wait in the shade until the water is almost dry and the surface has a certain hardness, and then engrave on it.

Engraving and engraving

After painting and calligraphy on the pot blank with a brush, it is called "engraving the base" according to ink.

Copy the manuscript of calligraphy and painting on the blank, and then carve it as usual, which is called "printing"

It is called "empty engraving" to engrave directly on the blank without prior painting and calligraphy.

The essence of pottery sculpture of teapot is "taking the knife as a substitute for the pen". There are five kinds of lettering: strokes, vertical strokes, skimming strokes, kicking strokes and pressing strokes: the knife goes down first and then goes up; Carve a "vertical" pen, with the knife first left and then right; Carve a "skimming" pen, with the knife in front and the reverse knife behind; Carve a "kick" pen, with the reverse knife in front and the straight knife behind; When carving a pen, the knife goes up first and then down.

The truth and falsehood in calligraphy, the shade in description and the fluency in stone are all on the curved pot, which is simple but not simple, implicit but not subdivided, rough but not vulgar.

Computer laser engraving, sand blasting engraving and manual electric drill engraving.

Cooked carving is a supplementary carving on the burned pot body, also known as "carving outside the kiln" of the teapot. Generally divided into computer laser engraving, sand blasting engraving and manual electric drill engraving.

Computer laser engraving: after designing the required engraving layout by using the graphic editing software in the computer, the machine is used to engrave on the surface of the pot body.

Sand blasting carving: Characters and some simple patterns are generally typeset by computer, and then batch print with blue film paper is pasted on the pot to be carved. The side of the pot with the hollow plastic film paper will be sandblasted with a high-pressure spray gun, and the lettering will remain.

Manual electric drill carving: relatively more difficult, and the price is not cheap. Carve directly on the cooked embryo with an electric drill and a small drill.

Cooked nicks, burn marks and wear marks are all the same concave surface, without the charm of stone, without the speed of force, fluctuating, wide and dull, dull and lifeless, lacking the sense of frustration in operation. The biggest disadvantage is that it destroys the crystals formed when the pot surface is fired, which is not conducive to soaking.

Then how to distinguish between raw engraving and cooked engraving?

Computer depiction is flat, and hand-drawing is deep. After all, computers are machines, and there are different levels of manual work.

Generally, description and decoration are first drawn on the ceramic blank, and then carved according to calligraphy. Every moment, apply two knives and scrape off the mud with the knife edge. This is the "double straight knife method". The lettering should be flat and vertical, and the lettering should be round and smooth; The description should be engraved with context, so that the structure is commensurate and the knife method is clear.

In the depiction, we must pay attention to the ups and downs of knife technique, the depth and width, and the continuity of brush strokes to show the charm. Boutique, carved with an oblique knife, can carve a beautiful spirit; Ordinary varieties use the flat knife carving method to directly cut the knife on the ceramic blank without painting first. This is the "one-sided knife method", commonly known as "empty knife method"

What do you think of the quality of carved teapot?

Distinguishing the advantages and disadvantages of purple sand carving art is like tasting a calligraphy and painting work. There are four points that can be understood:

1, first of all, from the overall grasp, first look at the modeling and seal cutting content, whether the seal cutting form is harmonious and unified.

2. See if the carving style, taste and charm are elegant.

3. See if you have the artistic characteristics and connotation spirit of traditional calligraphy and painting.

4. See if the texture and expression of the knife method are coordinated and unified.

The carving and painting of teapot has always been an outstanding representative of purple sand carving and painting, and it has been appreciated and respected by literati in past dynasties.

There are "Eight Friends of Zhushan" in the field of painting porcelain, and the most famous ones in the history of modern purple sand are Gu Jingzhou, Zhu Kexin and Jiang Rong. However, in terms of purple sand carving, according to the existing physical objects and records, Dong Qichang, Zheng Banqiao, Wu Changshuo, Ren Bonian and other famous painters have inscribed poems and lettering on purple sand pots, the most famous of which are Chen Mansheng and Zhu Jian.

They tried to transplant and carve China's traditional calligraphy and painting on the teapot, so that the teapot had a ceramic handicraft integrating China's calligraphy, painting, literature, history, epigraphy, sculpture and many other elements. Therefore, it is loved by people from all walks of life, especially literati and collectors. In particular, the famous carved pots are highly respected and even obsessed. There has always been a saying that "the words in the pot are expensive, and the words are passed on by the pot."
