Decorative patterns of ancient Chinese buildings
Generally, there are three major sources: daily life, myths and stories, Buddhist tradition, which can be classified into official style and folk style, which are subdivided into Hexi, Xuanzi, Su style, and other curly grass patterns, which are mostly used on bird stands. It is a decorative method that combines carving and painting, and is used in Huizhou architecture.
Painting does not mean that painting is mainly used in the north. This is related to the climate. Building decorations in the south of the Yangtze River are mostly carvings. After Qianlong, Su-style painting appeared. Huizhou buildings mostly use carvings combined with painting. Even if the painting falls off, it does not matter.
