Why are the former rural craftsmen slowly disappearing? What did they all go through?
As soon as I saw this topic, it brought back memories from my childhood. Those who practiced their crafts in the countryside have long since faded away, but these memories are forever preserved in my mind.
1, blacksmith. The blacksmith's trade is the most useful craft in the countryside. They rotate through the villages throughout the year, busy in this village and then to that village, usually a village will have to work for more than ten days, in order to finish the work of the townspeople. These jobs were repairing shovels, stilettos, hoes, plows and harrows, and all kinds of iron tools. In those days, there were no machines in the countryside, and they relied on manpower to work the land, so these tools broke down quickly. As soon as they arrived in the village, they built a big furnace, stoked the fire, set up an anvil, and struck the hammer, so the townspeople knew that a blacksmith had come, and then they all brought out the agricultural tools that needed to be repaired. We, the children, gathered around the blacksmith's stand to watch, and when the master blacksmith took the red-hot iron out of the furnace with a big iron poker and put it on the anvil, we ran as fast as we could because if we ran slowly, we would be in danger of being scalded by the sparks. It was a joy to do this over and over again.
2, tailor. 30 years ago, we here almost every village has tailor store, at first it is the village collective side business, after the big package Gan was contracted by individuals, and then slowly become personal. At that time, the New Year's festivals to do their own clothes, the tailor store busy enough. After the reform and opening up, all kinds of small stalls selling clothes more and more, the tailor store's good days came to an end. Now, the tailor's trade is almost extinct.
3, mending pots and pans. In the past, life was difficult, it is not easy to buy a pot, so once broken, you have to mend. In fact, not only pots, but also porcelain pots, clay pots, water tanks, rice jars and so on. It is because the rural areas have this demand, so there is a pot mending this profession. Mending pots and pans is a careful work, if not accidentally broken, you have to compensate people, may earn a day are not enough.
There are many other crafts that have disappeared with the development of society. This is, of course, a good thing, because it shows that society has developed and people's living standards have improved. In fact, the survival of the fittest, is the law of nature, the advanced will always replace the backward, we should be happy for this.
