Simple practice method of bajiquan

The training thought of octupole boxing includes two basic contents. One is the combination of training and fighting; The second is the combination of boxing and gun. Allow me to add a few points below.

The combination of practice and fighting is the pursuit of most traditional boxing gymnasiums, and it is not unique to octupole, but octupole has a set of methods in the training of combination of practice and fighting. This method is in line with the overall style of octupole, simple and effective, and has a very strong training interest and fascination.

According to my personal martial arts and teaching experience, practicing octupole boxing usually starts with a small head and is supplemented by six elbows. The former pays attention to the training of basic posture, including the accumulation, coordination and transmission of whole body strength, including the pursuit of slow and steady, and the training effect of smooth strength. The latter strengthens the ability of hitting and fighting through stumbling, as well as the coordination of hands, eyes, body and steps. At the same time, in quality training, Bajiquan pays special attention to strength training, fully mobilizes various traditional training methods and strengthens strength, especially muscle. There are a series of methods to measure strength, and through these tests, strength training can be ensured step by step. These methods were introduced by my uncles Ma Yingtu and Han Huiqing to the training of professors in the Central National Martial Arts Museum, and they were praised by Mr. Zhang Zhijiang, and then widely promoted, resulting in the "force test" in the national examination of the Central National Martial Arts Museum.

When the small frame has been basically mastered, before entering the study of octupole boxing, it is usually necessary to draw some movements of octupole boxing, separate hanging, octupole boxing and eight strokes and make them into a combination, focusing on a certain strength method of the six major openings, and combine them in points to practice. For example, octupole boxing (elbow bump, lower cut, etc.). ), after hitting the elbow, eating the shoulder, iron broom, Tian Tong cannon, eight tricks to climb hard, etc. , form an action combination, from single-potential single practice to single-potential series practice, then to double-potential series practice and multi-potential series practice, and finally to compile series and set practice ......................................................................................................................... Moreover, as the practice of Bajiquan, Fenhang and Bajiquan single stroke runs through it, the comprehensive performance of long, short, rigid and soft strength is pursued, which fundamentally eliminates the disadvantage that ordinary Bajiquan practitioners tend to become stiff and stiff because of excessive emphasis on strength, and achieves the training procedures and effects.

At this stage, one of the essential exercises is to go beyond the six elbows and carry out further hard-hitting exercises, such as: big-tied duet, Chaoyang duet, hard-folded duet and so on. , all belong to this category. According to my late father's teachings, under normal circumstances, teachers and brothers will demonstrate first, explain the essentials of action, and emphasize that in one defense and one attack, we must make a real move and strike hard. Then the practitioners who gradually transition to different levels attack and defend each other, advance and retreat each other, so that the practitioners have the opportunity to fully feel the actual effects of collision and anti-collision through the actual practice of multiple individuals. Although this kind of exercise is not a real confrontation exercise, it is essentially a strength exercise and a virtual induction exercise, but this kind of exercise can make the practitioner prepare for the actual confrontation storage in both physical and psychological aspects. It should be said that this is a very good method in octupole training. It used to be said that people who practice octupole boxing are not afraid of collision or close combat, because most octupole boxers have experienced such strict and systematic training. In contrast, the so-called "basic training" such as "Changquan", which is newly edited in contemporary times, focuses on the pace and character modeling, as well as the practice of somersaults and jumps. Without hard-hitting training, athletes jump light and agile, but they can't hit hard. Even if you meet a truly powerful person, it is inevitable that you will hit a wall.

In octupole training methods, there are not only single training and double training, but also various forms of one-to-one training, many-to-one training and group training. Bajiquan pays more attention to group training, which is group training. In the late 1920s, the Central Martial Arts Museum selected the Eight-pole Museum as a teaching material, and vigorously promoted it to schools, organizations and troops. One of the reasons is that octupole hall is suitable for group practice. Octupole group training, especially butt-joint group training, is full of energy, which can greatly stimulate the interest of practitioners, strengthen the training atmosphere and make the training enter the best state. We can't underestimate this. Any efficient training effect must seek a positive and pleasant training atmosphere. The trainer's hard and enthusiastic training mentality is often inseparable from the temptation of a specific atmosphere. Therefore, whether this kind of atmosphere can be created anytime and anywhere and whether practitioners can enter the best training state as soon as possible is the embodiment of whether a teacher has real skills.

My brothers and I grew up in the special environment and rich atmosphere of "octupole plus hanging" We deeply realize that a martial artist with a high level of education like my late father has a common feature, that is, he abides by the theories and laws handed down by the sages and never changes them easily, especially in the training theories and methods. Of course, it is impossible to remain the same, and there is no need to follow suit. However, my late father often warned us that some things must be observed, not to be thrown away, and not to be changed casually, because it has been proved to be effective by countless practices, the crystallization of the wisdom of martial artists and the condensation of their life's hard work. Abiding by and cherishing these ancient laws is in itself a deep love and respect for the heritage of classic Wushu culture. For a martial arts lover, this kind of affection is the basic point of "martial virtue", which contains profound humanistic significance and must not be taken lightly!
