Attitude control technology
Processing: Plum blossoms are mostly shaped by "rough rolling and fine shearing". When the diameter of the trunk reaches 1 cm, it can be climbed, and the lateral branches can also be thick rolled, with brown silk or metal wire, and the rest can be trimmed. For the newly born flower branches every year, according to the needs of modeling, brown silk can also be used for climbing and binding. The processing of trunk and big branches should be in winter, and the processing of new branches should be in autumn and September. Be careful not to hurt the bud.
Tree shape: Generally speaking, the trunk of plum blossom bonsai in China should be oblique and the branches and leaves should be stretched, but not blindly sparse. It should be sparse and dense, and the density should be appropriate and picturesque. There are many traditional plum blossom bonsai styles in various schools of bonsai in China, and the common ones are as follows:
Youlong style
It is the traditional style of Huizhou bonsai, that is, the trunk is S-shaped, with several bends from the base to the top, like a Youlong. The lateral branches all come from the convex bending of the trunk, and also have a certain degree of bending, which is symmetrical left and right, on the same plane, which is very interesting.
Santai
It is also the traditional style of Huizhou school. The trunk is bent 2-3 times, and the upper branches and leaves are divided into three pieces, which are staggered and layered, and each piece is made into a horizontal steamed bread, which is dignified and steady.
Split dry type
In the traditional Supai bonsai, the thick and shapeless Meizhuang was split, and some xylem was cut and carved, so as to achieve the effect of "the dead wood meets the spring".
Junction type
In order to carry forward the traditional style of bonsai, the trunk of plum is tied into a knot or a circle at the seedling stage. After a long time, it will form a knot shape, which looks quaint.
Downwind type
It is also the traditional style of Yang school, that is, all branches of Mei are tied to the same side, just like the effect of the wind blowing the flag.
Vertical branching type
It is also the traditional style of Yang school, that is, all the lateral branches of plum blossoms are tied into pendulous shapes, which has a unique charm.
The above styles are for reference only. Now the shape of plum blossom bonsai is more about climbing and pruning plum blossoms, making an eclectic natural feeling.
