What is the holiday custom on the eleventh day of the first month?
First, son-in-law day
It is said that the eleventh day of the first month is the "son-in-law's day", which means the day when the father-in-law fetes his son-in-law, because the son-in-law family visits his father-in-law on the second day of the lunar new year, and on the eleventh day of the first month, the father-in-law will also invite his son-in-law to his home as a gift.
In fact, son-in-law day has a long history. In ancient times, the ninth day of the first month was the "God's Day", which people would celebrate, but the ingredients were basically inexhaustible, so the family would invite the son-in-law to be a guest on the eleventh day of the first month, killing two birds with one stone, not wasting food, but also showing respect for the son-in-law.
Second, Tim Ding Day
The so-called Tianding means giving birth to children, mostly boys. In some areas of Guangdong, the first month 1 1 day is called "Tianding Day". On this day, the host will prepare "rice cube sugar" to be distributed to the villagers from door to door, and will also hold a banquet with lanterns to entertain the villagers.
In some areas, "people lanterns" or "lanterns" are hung on the wedding day, and the children's names are written on the lanterns, hoping that the children will be healthy, safe, rich and auspicious in the future.
Third, Zi Gu Ri
Zigu is the god of toilets in China folklore, also known as Maogu, Kengsangu and Zigu. Zi Gu, a native of Laiyang named He Mei, was accepted as a concubine by Li Jingna and was jealous by Li Jingna's wife. Killed in the toilet in the first month. Later, God took pity on her and appointed her Ce Shen.
On the eleventh day of the first month, people call this day "Zi Gu Day", and they also worship Zi Gu. But not because she is Ce Shen, but because she represents the oppressed women in the old society. I hope Zigu can protect vulnerable women from bullying.
Fourth, mining day
Shangcai Day is a small festival before the Lantern Festival, because there is a custom of sending lanterns before the Lantern Festival in both the north and the south, that is, elders will send lanterns to their grandchildren, and children will play with them at night. Our place is called "Lantern Tour". Usually, the day of sending lanterns begins on the eighth day of the eighth lunar month and lasts until the eleventh day of the first month.
Shangcai Festival plays a very important role in the Spring Festival, and it also adds a lot of festive colors to the Spring Festival. When I was a child, I looked forward to receiving lanterns from my elders, but now fewer and fewer people send lanterns, and children don't like them very much.
Five, cannon dragon festival
Dragon running festival is a unique traditional festival in Guangxi. The so-called dragon running is dragon dancing, but it is different from the usual dragon dancing. This dragon is more than 40 meters long and looks magnificent, even spectacular. Wherever the "cannon dragon" went, every household set off firecrackers and lined up along the street to greet each other. There is a saying that "guns are endless and dragons dance", so it is called "cannon dragon".
