Nunchaku footwork and swivel stick

A complete solution to the gait and posture of nunchakus

Footwork includes static footwork and dynamic footwork, and posture.

Static steps and postures

1. The center of gravity is generally between standing up straight and squatting, which is slightly higher than the center of gravity of Siping Horse in traditional martial arts. So the nunchakus should be half-standing. In sports, except for hitting, flying and sweeping on one knee, the center of gravity should generally be kept here.

Second step

(1) Turn on the front and rear fighting style, which is the classic fighting alert style. Knee slightly flexed, left foot buckled about 30 degrees, right foot slightly buckled, left foot in front and right foot behind, spanning about two and a half feet. Right foot in front, and vice versa.

(2) Half-horse stance just needs to spread your feet to a comfortable width and your body sinks slightly. Toes should bend slightly inward.

(3) Turn slightly to the left or right on the basis of just looking at the half-horse stance just look, and the center of gravity is slightly lower than that just looking at the half-horse stance just look, leaning towards the hind foot.

(4) On the basis of four or six steps, the high stool is realized by keeping the front foot straight, the back foot bent and the center of gravity slightly shifted to the back foot.

(5) The small lunge is the small lunge in traditional martial arts, also called stepping on the mountain. On the basis of half-horse stance, twist the body 90 degrees to the left or right, straighten the back foot, bend the front foot, face the front toe straight ahead, and buckle the back toe.

(6) On the basis of half a horse stance, the body turns slightly to the left, and at the same time, the knees and toes naturally turn a little, and the right knee feels like kneeling.

(7) Front and rear upright step This type is generally the step type after front pick-and-roll. The feet are straight and open, and the center of gravity is high.

(8) The formula of single kneeling step is used for footwall low scanning. Kneel with your front foot, kneel with your back foot, keep your upper body straight (don't lean over), and raise your heels.

(9) How far is the distance between the two feet? Turn your body to the left (right) 180 degrees, and then your feet naturally rotate, but the position remains the same, forming a left-right cross step. This formula is used for median inverse scanning.

(10) Looking back at the moon, open your feet (half lunge or four or six steps), twist your body to the left (right) 180 degrees, and your feet naturally rotate, but the position remains the same, just like looking back at the moon in the sky. This formula is similar to AC *, but the action is bigger than this, and it is also used for low-level reverse scanning.

It is also good to apply other traditional martial arts steps to nunchakus in other steps, such as sitting on the board, resting and lifting your knees. These actions used on nunchakus are generally only used for performance and have no practical significance.

Step 3: Posture

Footwork and posture are the same, and any footwork has its corresponding posture. Posture is reflected in the position above the waist, including standing upright, bending (bending), leaning back and twisting. In the technique of nunchakus, it is very important to erect and twist, especially to twist, which is the key to promote and rotate the stick. Nunchaku posture should also sink the waist, sit on the hips, sink the shoulders and relax the elbows.

Step 4: Walk on the move

The gait of nunchakus is mainly to send steps, with feet close to the ground, maintaining the center of gravity, and the pace is not ups and downs, which is steady and flexible.

(1) Step forward with your front foot and take a small step forward with your back heel. The movement of two feet in tandem, don't delay or follow too fast, becomes a step forward.

(2) The backward step is opposite to the forward step. Take a step back on your hind foot, and naturally drag your front foot back for a small step, just like the previous step.

(3) Step forward, and then step forward with your feet. The pace is naturally light and keep the center of gravity.

(4) The backward step is opposite to the forward step.

(5) Front foot side step, the main point is the same as the previous step.

(6) Arc step or Tai Chi step. One foot is centered on the other foot, touching the ground in an arc shape, and turning around at the same time.

(7) Lift one foot in a whirlwind step and make a 360-degree arc motion with the other foot as the center to drive the body to twist for one week, so that the moving foot can be slightly higher from the ground.

(8) Nunchuck jump step method is less, generally seen in smash.

(9) Vacation footwork after vacating generally involves a sweeping stick or chopping stick turning, and the ground should be stable after vacating.

(10) The flying whirlwind step is a combination of flying gait and whirlwind step, which can rotate back and forth to enhance the impact.
