What is the definition of international practice? What are the characteristics?

International custom, also known as international practice, is also an international code of conduct. There are two kinds of international practices: one belongs to the legal category and the other belongs to the non-legal category. The former has legal effect, while the latter does not.

Within the scope of private international law, there are also two different international practices: one is the international practice that the parties have no choice but to abide by, that is, the mandatory international practice. The other is an international practice that is binding only after the parties choose, that is, an arbitrary international practice.

Several characteristics of international practice:

Availability, applicable to most countries and regions.

Stable, not affected by policy adjustment and economic fluctuations.

Repeatability, general reuse.

Quasi-compulsory, protected by the laws of various countries, has certain legal binding force.
