The sky's the limit for office furniture designs beyond imagination at the 2019 Milan International Furniture Fair!
Coland Decoration has selected a few of these representative design works to share with you the ingenuity of the designers.
MEW Coffee Table
Zaha Hadid Designs
Zaha Hadid Designs has already designed an office desk, and this coffee table is a complementary piece to the brand's furniture line. It might be hard to tell it's a coffee table from the pictures, but yes, it's certainly more unique than one would expect from its shape.
The center leaf-like design of this coffee table can be seen as part of the third plane, giving the impression that the tabletop is suspended in a state of balance. The design is inspired by Japanese origami culture and is made of high-density molded polyurethane, which is exceptionally lightweight.
5PM Stacking Chair
William Sawaya
This stacking chair stands out for its smooth shape and minimalist design, which utilizes a single main body steel tube to shape the entire chair, wrapping the user in it. The chair's seat and back are made of soft-molded polyurethane and upholstered in colorful fabric and leather for a comfortable feel.
KOR Sofa
William Sawaya
Also from William Sawaya, the emphasis is on traditional craftsmanship combined with modern design. The chrome steel tube frame uses bands woven into a mesh to support the seat cushions, and the different tones of the front and back combine in an exceptionally harmonious way, representing a traditional element hidden in modern furniture design.
ALESSANDRO
William Sawaya
Sawaya's final design is a contemporary art deco storage cabinet. Featuring a bold geometric pattern and color palette, the black and white surfaces visually hide the contours of the cabinets and drawers, pushing the visual impression of wholeness to the extreme.
The fluorescent green bar corner is the finishing touch to the whole piece of furniture, and the space of modern art is practiced and expanded in the office furniture.
Sloyd High Stool
Sn?hetta Design
Compared with other office furniture design works at the show, the Sloyd series of high stools designed by the Norwegian architectural studio Sn?hetta seems particularly simple and genuine.
Made of natural wood, the design style favors the Norwegian tradition of minimalist style, but with people's impression of Scandinavian minimalism is different, minimalist more than a hint of back to basics.
The cut-outs on both sides of the seat make it easier for the user to grip the stool. A metal hook fixed to one of the legs is designed to hold a handbag or backpack.
Leva Chair
Foster + Partners?
The Leva Chair, the first wooden chair designed by Foster + Partners, was inspired by the shape of a paddle and the efficiency it represents. Made from a single piece of wood with a finely carved finish, the Leva chair not only delivers the ultimate in comfort, but its quality will stand the test of time.
Additionally, in keeping with the concept of sustainability, the chair itself is designed to help reduce the amount of waste generated during the production process. This has been a new trend in the design world in recent years, which continues to introduce green concepts into design.
Endless Side Table
Daniel Libeskind
Libeskind is known for his exploration and experimentation with dynamic shapes. He plays with proportions, space, and perspective in the design of this side table.
This aesthetic and functional piece is carved from Italian marble using cutting-edge technology. The choice of material adds a sense of uniqueness and non-everydayness, which is sure to play a style-setting role in office design.
AVA Long Table
Molteni&C Foster Architects
Molteni&C Foster Architects explores the form of wood through the design of office furniture in terms of sustainability and feasibility.
The Ava Desk is a lightweight cantilevered desk that can be used both indoors and outdoors, and is a product of the ever-present need for 'eco-sustainability'. The universality of its shape allows it to be used in a variety of settings, and the smooth lines of its design enhance the texture of the whole scene.
