What are the classifications of bows? What's the difference between them?
Most of the glyphs in the Western Zhou Dynasty and the Spring and Autumn Period have been omitted, leaving only the curved arch back. Warring States script may have a short cross decoration at the bottom of the word "bow". Later seal scripts all followed the shape without bowstring, with the bow back to the left. The strokes of official script and regular script were flattened and developed into modern "bows".
The ideograph Oracle Bone Inscriptions's "bow" is a realistic bow: a line with two arcs represents the back of the bow, and the straighter line is the bowstring. The back of the bow can be left or right. There is an extra stroke at the top of the glyph, which may indicate the animal horn inlaid on the bow. This mosaic is for decoration on the one hand.
On the other hand, it also has other uses, that is, tying a rope to the bow angle and tying the other end of the rope to the end of the arrow, so that the arrow can be taken back after shooting. Some Oracle Bone Inscriptions omitted the bowstring.
