Why should China develop circular economy?

China is a country with high population density and poor per capita resources. If China follows the traditional herding boy economic model and maintains rapid economic growth with high consumption, low output and high pollution, it will further worsen the environmental situation and accelerate the depletion of limited resources, and the pressure of environment and resources will soon in turn restrict social and economic development. China must adjust the relationship among "society", "environment" and "resources" through the development mode of circular economy, so as to maximize and optimize the allocation of resources. The necessity of developing circular economy in China is specifically divided into the following points:

(1) Developing circular economy is the fundamental way to alleviate the contradiction of resource constraints.

It is unsustainable to continue to follow old habits and consume a lot of limited resources to promote the development of industrialization and modernization. Only by vigorously developing circular economy and realizing efficient utilization and recycling of resources can the pressure of economic growth on resource supply be alleviated.

(2) Developing circular economy is an effective way to fundamentally reduce environmental pollution.

Vigorously developing circular economy and promoting cleaner production can minimize the impact of social activities on natural resources and ecological environment and fundamentally solve the contradiction between economic development and environmental protection.

(3) Developing circular economy is an important measure to improve economic benefits.

Practice has proved that the low level of resource utilization has become an important obstacle for enterprises to reduce production costs and improve economic benefits and competitiveness. It has become an important and urgent task to vigorously develop circular economy, improve resource utilization efficiency and enhance international competitiveness.

(4) Developing circular economy is an urgent need to deal with new trade protectionism.

In the face of increasingly prominent non-tariff barriers, including "green barriers", we should attach great importance to and actively respond, especially to comprehensively promote clean production, vigorously develop circular economy, and gradually make our products meet international standards in terms of resources and environmental protection.

(5) Developing circular economy is the essential requirement of people-oriented and sustainable development.

We must vigorously develop circular economy and embark on a new road of industrialization with high scientific and technological content, good economic benefits, low resource consumption, less environmental pollution and full play to the advantages of human resources to achieve sustainable development.
