What is Posanova's musical style?

Posanova is the result of the fusion of Manbo music and cold jazz, and also absorbs some characteristics of samba music. Its sound effect is not noisy, and intuition is like whispering when a singer chats with an audience. Bosanova's melody is not strong, and there are many twists and turns. Unlike mambo, which only pays attention to melody and rhythm, it emphasizes the overall effect of harmony, rhythm and melody. Its harmony language, melody development and texture structure are more complicated and richer than mambo. Highlight the crisp rhythm of acoustic guitar in timbre, and intentionally weaken the color of Latin American percussion instruments (such as sand balls and sound sticks). ); In the use of tonality, there are often complex development techniques such as alternating major and minor (such as A minor and D major). Its rhythm (please refer to Example 44) becomes more complicated on the basis of mambo, forming a colorful rhythm form.

Stan Getz (1927 ~ 199 1) made great contributions to the spread of Posanova. As an alto saxophonist, he is famous for his beautiful melody. During World War II, many jazz musicians were drafted into the army, and some bands lacked musicians. Gates joined a big band to escape the street riots. In the mid-1940s, he played in a band in Benny Goodman, during which his playing level was greatly improved. In the 1950s, he recorded some cold jazz records with some West Coast musicians. 1962, he and guitarist Charlie Bird recorded an album called Jazz Samba, which made Posanova popular in America. 1963, he recorded the album Gates/Gilberto with guitarist Joao Gilberto and pianist Antonio Carlos Jopin from Brazil, in which The Girl from Ipanema was sung by Joao Gilberto and his wife Astrud Giberto. Under the impetus of stan gates, Posanova became one of the jazz styles that attracted worldwide attention and was well received by people.
