Difference between maintenance-free battery and ordinary battery

The difference between maintenance-free batteries and ordinary batteries is that:

1, different lifetimes

Maintenance-free battery consumes very little electrolyte due to its structural advantages, and basically does not need to replenish distilled water during its service life. It also has the characteristics of impact resistance, high temperature resistance, small volume and small self-discharge. The service life is generally twice that of ordinary batteries.

2. Different materials

Traditional batteries use lead-antimony alloy, and maintenance-free batteries use lead-calcium alloy. The former is made of antimony and the latter is made of calcium, which is the fundamental difference between them.

3, the phenomenon is different.

Different materials will produce different phenomena: the traditional battery will lose liquid during use, because antimony on the grid will pollute sponge-like pure lead on the negative plate, which will weaken the back electromotive force in the battery and cause excessive decomposition of water after being fully charged.

A large amount of oxygen and hydrogen respectively escaped from the positive and negative plates, which reduced the electrolyte. Replacing antimony with calcium can change the back electromotive force of fully charged battery, reduce the overcharge flow, reduce the vaporization speed of liquid, and thus reduce the loss of electrolyte.

4. Different functions

Compared with the traditional battery, the maintenance-free battery does not need to add any liquid, and has the advantages of less corrosion to wiring piles and wires, strong overcharge resistance, large starting current and long storage time of electric energy.
