The China Go Masters Battle is one of China's traditional Go tournaments with a long history and is organized by the People's Daily and the China Weiqi Association. It is held once a year. The first Masters Battle was held in 1988, after which a challenge system was adopted, whereby a challenger was generated from the qualifying rounds and this tournament to challenge the previous champion. Since the 13th edition, the challenger's decision has been based on 2 out of 3 games. The finals have always been decided by 3 out of 5 rounds.
