Shaoxing lotus drop

One of the major operas in Zhejiang. Popular in Shaoxing, Ningbo and Hangzhou. Legend has it that it originated in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties. At that time, most singers disguised as beggars, rapped along the street, publicized Shinto and advised people to be kind.

Generally, the first stage consists of two people, one is the lead singer, who hits the arms, abdomen, chest and legs with bamboo boards strung together with copper coins, and the other is the voice. Later, it gradually developed into rap news, with talking, singing and performing. Instead, it was accompanied by clapping hands on three stilts and four beards. Because the singing is fluent, euphemistic, good at narration, lyrical, lively and interesting, and easy to understand, it is especially loved by the peasants and becomes a literary activity in the slack season. At the same time, some famous professional artists have appeared. Plays include Pearl Tower, He Wenxiu, Naojishan and so on.

After the founding of New China, Shaoxing Lianhualuo reformed and developed music singing, adding the accompaniment of pipa, Ruan, dulcimer, erhu and other musical instruments, and compiled many new songs, such as Blood and Tears, Night Robbery, Sanshui Dou Taishi and so on.
