The Origin of English Composition in Peking Opera

Peking Opera, China's "national quintessence" and national drama, has a history of 200 years and enjoys a high reputation at home and abroad. It was formed in Beijing. According to legend, during the Qianlong period of Qing Dynasty, Qianlong was very interested in local drama. 1790, in order to celebrate the 80th birthday of Qianlong, Qianlong called local theatrical troupes to perform for him, among which four troupes from Anhui Province stayed in Beijing after the celebration. 1828, a troupe from Hubei came to Beijing.
