Tang dynasty architecture

The buildings in the Tang Dynasty are simple, solemn and generous, with simple and bright colors. How magnificent and tall the building is, yet unpretentious. The scale of architecture in Tang Dynasty was huge, and the planning was rigorous. During this period, the overall planning of architecture in China became more and more mature. Huge palaces, courtyards and yamen have been built in Chang 'an (now Xi) in Tang Dou and Luoyang in the east, and the architectural layout is more standardized and reasonable. Chang 'an was the most magnificent city in the world at that time, and its planning was also the most rigorous among the ancient capitals of China. Daming Palace, the Forbidden City in Chang 'an, is extremely magnificent, and its site area is more than three times the total area of Qingming Palace and Forbidden City.

The gates of some noble houses are in the form of bird's head gates. There are two main houses in the house connected by corridors with straight windows to form quadrangles, but there are also houses that are not completely symmetrical, but the courtyards formed by corridors are still the same. As for the rural houses, see You Chuntu, which accounts for money. There are houses without cloisters all around, forming a flat and narrow quadrangle. In addition, there is a simple yard with a wooden fence hut, which is relatively compact in layout, in sharp contrast with the gallery-style house mentioned above.

It is worth thinking that most of the houses depicted in these garden paintings have obvious central axes and symmetrical plane layout, which is undoubtedly a common layout method in residential buildings at that time. Noble officials in this period not only inherited the traditions of the Northern and Southern Dynasties, but also dug ponds behind or beside houses, built mountain ponds or large gardens, and built villas in beautiful suburbs. Although the layout of these private gardens is dominated by mountain ponds, literati painters in the Tang Dynasty often pin their thoughts on "poetic and picturesque", which also affects the gardening techniques. Bai Juyi, an official and poet, built a house garden in Yang's former residence in Luoyang in his later years. The width of the house is 17 mu, which accounts for about one-third of the house area, one-fifth of the water area and one-ninth of the bamboo forest area. The garden is surrounded by islands, trees, bridges and roads. There are three islands in the pool, and the pavilion is built in the middle island. Connected by a bridge; Open circuit of ring pool; Xixi Building, Tanxiao Building, Shiquan Building, East Building, Chixi Building, Book Building, Qinting Terrace, Pavilion Building, etc. And lead the water to the lower steps of the bedroom in the yard; In addition, a small building was built in the Western Wall, and stones were piled up in the street canals outside the wall, and lotus flowers were planted. The layout of the whole park is mainly water bamboo, and the method of borrowing scenery from different scenes is adopted.
