Growing environment of oats

The growing environment of oats is different from ordinary grains, and it likes cold and dry climate. The northern foot of Yinshan Mountain in the middle of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in China is known as the main producing area of golden oats in the world. The altitude is about 2000 meters, the annual sunshine time is more than 3000 hours, the temperature difference between day and night is large, and the monsoon with an average of 3 meters per second blows all the year round.

There are obvious genetic variations in maturity, growth period and yield traits of common cultivated oats in China. At maturity, there are five varieties in China: super-early, early, medium, late and super-late.

There is a great difference in the length of the growth period. The growth period of the earliest variety in the north is only about 70 days, while the latest variety is 120 days, with a difference of 50 days. In southwest China, the growth period of most varieties is about 220 days, and the latest varieties can reach more than 260 days.
