Special etiquette
Egyptian etiquette of interaction with both the traditional customs of the nation, but also the practice of Westerners, both, the upper class more inclined to European and American etiquette. Egyptians meet with unusual enthusiasm. In general, see the less familiar people, the first to greet the person who said the world's Muslim greetings - "Ansai two eyes? Erlaikum" (directly translated as "peace be upon you", meaning "hello"). Our Muslims call it "Selam" for short. If it is an old friend, especially after a long time, then embrace the face salute, that is, with the right hand to hold each other's left shoulder, the left arm around each other's waist, first left and then right, each stick once or more. And will also send a string of greetings like a series of artillery: "How are you?" "How are you?" "How have you been?" "How is your body?" And so on.
If you visit a friend at home, the host will repeat one or more times: "Ai Hiran Use Hiran Umair Hapan" (meaning "You meet a loved one, you walk the plains, you are welcome"). Sometimes it is also said simply: "Love Hiran! Ehran!" Females are more likely to use the gentle face-to-face salute as a courtesy or sign of affection, usually once on the right, then once on the left. The opposite sex usually shake hands, and only relatives perform the face-to-face salute. Men and women can not shake hands, men should not take the initiative to reach out, shaking hands should not cross, that is, four people were "cross" shape face to face. Men must get up from their seats when shaking hands, but women do not have to, you can continue to sit on the chair.
Egyptians are not afraid of foreigners visiting their homes, and even welcome their visits and take pride in them. But visits from the opposite sex are forbidden, even among Egyptians, male and female classmates and coworkers are not allowed to visit each other's homes. Except for poor families, Egyptians have living rooms in their homes, and bedrooms as private rooms are not welcome to outsiders. Home visits should take the initiative to greet the elderly and talk with them, the Egyptians are happy to talk about all sorts of things, generally should be in the end of a topic of conversation after the farewell. The host says to the guest, "Mai'a? Salamah" (directly translated as "peace be with you", meaning "safe journey" or "goodbye"). It is not appropriate for the guest to repeat this, but he can still say: "Ansar al-Salam" (peace be upon you). The guest should not repeat this, but can still say: "Ansar al-Amr?
Egyptians (Muslims are so) that "the right is better than the left", the right is auspicious, do things from the right hand and the right foot to start, shaking hands, eating, handing things must be used with the right hand, wearing clothes first right sleeve, wearing shoes first wear the right foot, the first into the home and the mosque to step right foot. The reason for this is that Mujrim use their left hand for "convenience" and to do their dirty work, so their left hand is considered unclean, and it is extremely impolite to shake hands with others or pass things with their left hand, and it is even regarded as insulting.
Taboos for women. According to Islam, a woman's "attractive parts" are not to be seen by anyone other than her husband. Even people of the same sex should not look at each other's private parts, and therefore short, thin, transparent and revealing clothing is forbidden. Even a baby's body should not be uncovered, and public **** baths were not seen in the streets. Although Egyptians are tolerant of foreigners and are not as strict as in some Islamic countries, a word of caution must be given; wearing tank tops, shorts and ultra-short skirts in Egypt is strictly forbidden in mosques.
Generally, try not to yawn or sneeze in front of Egyptians; if you really can't help it, turn your face to cover your mouth and say "sorry". Egyptians hate yawning, that yawning is the devil in worship. A person who yawns, as if he has committed a crime, hastens to say, "Please forgive Allah." And sneezing is not considered necessarily bad; a person who sneezes in front of a crowd says, "I testify that all is not the Lord but Allah." And the person next to him says, "Allah have mercy on you." He then says, "Allah forgive me and everyone else."
