The connection and difference between humanism education, Protestantism education and Catholicism education in Renaissance.
I. Similarities
1, religion. They all believe in God, but to varying degrees, humanistic education is religious and also contains pagan factors. Protestant education and Catholic education are both religious education, and both oppose some pagan problems in humanistic education. In the Reformation, it had the dual purpose of religion and secularism, while Catholic ointment hoped to return to the more religious Middle Ages.
2. Attach importance to classicism and humanism. Every kind of education takes the classical humanities as the backbone of the curriculum.
3. In education and teaching management, gradually abolish corporal punishment, emphasize all-round physical and mental development, and adopt and gradually improve the class hierarchy.
4. Secularity is enhanced. Humanistic education advocates a superficial secularity, which is confined to the upper class of society and does not affect all levels of social life. Oppose religious corruption but identify with Catholicism. Protestantism reform suppressed the secularization tendency of humanism, but objectively it vigorously promoted the secularization spirit. Education is closely integrated with secular life, the proportion of secular knowledge increases, and natural science enters the classroom.
Second, differences.
1. Humanism education is aristocratic, while Protestantism education has a strong mass and popularity. Catholic education is also aristocratic, but for the political purpose of controlling social elites, it attaches importance to the education of upper-class children, while humanists regard learning classical knowledge as the advanced enjoyment of the aristocratic class itself.
2. The fundamental difference between these three kinds of education lies in their different purposes of service. Humanism education serves aristocrats, Protestantism education serves Protestantism and Catholic education serves Catholicism.
The influence of humanistic education, Protestant education and Catholic education
1. Although this reform was triggered by humanism, its historical significance to the turning point of modern education is far higher than humanism. It opened the prelude to the nationalization, secularization and popularization of modern western education.
2. Great changes have taken place in education as a whole, which indicates that secular modern education has fundamentally replaced religious medieval education, and education is moving towards modernization (secularization, nationalization and popularization).
