Who knows the origin of yi dance?
My hometown Eshan Yi Autonomous County is the first ethnic autonomous county after liberation. Its national customs are simple and charming ... like flowers, it has spread from the mountains to the city and even become a grand festival that the county must hold every year. But there is no historical record about its specific origin, appearance and production. Based on oral tradition and local people's inheritance from generation to generation, according to the survey, there are two main opinions about its origin and generation: folklore and foreign cultural influence.
Folklore: In ancient times, there was a beautiful Yi girl who could sing and dance well. One day, when she was washing the crock, she accidentally touched the jar mouth and the crock made a banging sound. She thinks it sounds good. When she went up the mountain to cut wood, she picked up a hollow tree, covered it with sheepskin and knocked it with a wooden stick. Its voice is particularly nice. Since then, the Yi people have had their own drum and flower drum activities. To commemorate the inventor of Huagu, the Yi people made a memorial tablet which read "I feel the memorial tablet of Huagu Queen". Every time you dance the flower drum, you should kill the chicken to pay homage, hold a ceremony and hold a "flower drum meeting". Although there is no exact historical record and strong evidence to prove its authenticity, this beautiful legend about the origin of the Yi flower drum dance in Eshan comes from this. It also shows that the Yi people in Eshan are a people who advocate labor, wisdom and innovation.
Influenced by foreign culture. According to textual research and the current survey results, it is very likely that Eshan Yi Flower Drum Dance is a Yi cultural and artistic form combined with Fengyang Flower Drum in Anhui Province. The props drums used by the two are almost the same, and the drums are mainly hung at the waist. In addition, judging from the Chinese lyrics and lantern tunes in the Yi Flower Drum Opera, such as "listening to Fengyang Flower Drum", "listening to Yunnan Drum", "singing lanterns full of red and ugly", "golden couple standing on both sides, a pair of white cranes standing in front of their eyes" and "Master Lu Ban coming to see the beam" are all manifestations of the absorption of Chinese culture in the Yi Flower Drum Opera. Judging from the characteristics of dance vocabulary of Yi people's Flower Drum Dance itself, it is mainly based on another folk dance of Yi people, such as "beating flowers left and right", "stamping feet left and right", "turning over and pointing feet" and "opposing feet" and many other basic dance movements and vocabulary. From this point of view, there are inseparable elements of China culture and art in the flower drum dance of Yi people in Eshan. In this sense, the flower drum dance of Yi people in Eshan is the crystallization of the blending of Han and Yi cultures. This also shows that the emergence of a certain ethnic folk culture and art is not accidental and isolated, but the result of long-term inheritance, development and innovation of the people in the process of mutual blending, infiltration and promotion of various cultures. The mutual blending, tolerance and development of national culture is an indispensable factor and combination form of a certain national folk culture and art. It is precisely because of this that the hardworking, intelligent, upright, cheerful and enthusiastic Yi people in Eshan have created such charming and colorful Yi flower-inspiring art with their wisdom, their understanding and love of production, life and social nature, and their inner enthusiasm and demand.
