Introduction of Pu'er
Pu'er, also known as Simao, is a prefecture-level city in Yunnan. It is located in southwestern Yunnan Province, with 1 district and 9 counties under its jurisdiction, a population of 2.58 million in 2012, and a total area of 45,385 square kilometers.On January 21, 2007, Simao City was renamed Pu'er City. Pu'er City has jurisdiction over Simao District, Ning'er Hani and Yi Autonomous County, Mojiang Hani Autonomous County, Jingdong Yi Autonomous County, Jinggu Dai and Yi Autonomous County, Zhenyuan Yi and Hani Lahu Autonomous County, Jiangcheng Hani and Yi Autonomous County, Menglian Dai and Lahu Wa Autonomous County, Lancang Lahu Autonomous County, and Ximeng Wa Autonomous County, and its People's Government is stationed at Yueguang Road, Simao District. Pu'er has nine minority autonomous counties, inhabited by 14 hereditary ethnic groups, including Han, Hani, Yi, Lahu, Wa, and Dai, with minority populations accounting for 61% of the population. The local ethnic traditional festivals in Pu'er include Wa Wooden Drum Festival, Lahu Gourd Festival, Yi Torch Festival and Dai Water Splashing Festival.
