Chinese traditional Beijing opera is divided into which,4 lines.

1. Sheng line, refers to the male figure in the opera repertoire, characterized by the facial make-up of the handsome dress. Depending on their age and status, they can be divided into different categories, such as senior, junior, martial arts and so on.

2. The Dan line, referring to the female figure in the opera, can be divided into categories such as Qingyi, Hua Dan, Dao Ma Dan, Wu Dan, Lao Dan, and Caidan.

3. The Jing line refers to those male figures whose faces are outlined in face paint, and can be categorized into Zheng Jing, Vice Jing, Wu Jing and Mao Jing.

4. Jouxing refers to those characters, both male and female, who are funny, humorous or ugly. Males often draw tofu-shaped faces between the nose and eyes, so they are also known as "small flower face". There are also the "Wen Chou", "Wu Chou", and "Female Chou" characters.
