What is the fastest speed of a bobsled?

Sledders can reach an average speed of 120-145 kilometers per hour during a race.

The sled (sleigh) originated in Switzerland and the Nordic region, and was made an official event at the 1964 Winter Olympics in Innsbruck. The body of the sleigh consists of two solid edges, two edges, a seat plate and two bridges. The weight of a single sled is between 21 and 25 kilograms; the weight of a two-person sled is between 25 and 30 kilograms.

The rules of bobsleigh racing allow athletes to add weight through counterweights, but if the counterweights are outside the prescribed limits, the athlete will be disqualified from the race. The blades and steel parts of the sled need to be polished before and after use to adjust the angle according to the temperature, the ice temperature and the skill level of the athletes.

The athletes' suits are made of stretch material, the gloves are made of delicate and soft material with sharp spikes, and they are equipped with race-specific shoes, helmets and other equipment.

Rules

At the start of the race, the athletes need to sit on top of the sled, push back with both arms, and then push back on the ice with both hands wearing non-slip gloves in order to gain acceleration.

After completing the start, athletes use a lying position with their feet in front of them and their heads behind them to complete the skating on the sled through exquisite driving skills, such as adjusting the center of gravity and angle in the curves, striving to cross the corner in the shortest possible time, while maintaining the speed and sliding down the smooth momentum.
