Introducing the Olympic Program "Sword Shooting
The South Korean women's team is superb in archery, known as the Dream Team, and has swept all the archery gold medals in recent Olympics. The Chinese women's team has certain strength in both team and individual events, and is expected to challenge the Korean team in Beijing.
Archery has a long history and was originally used for hunting and warfare. The original archers were hunters who used bows and arrows to hunt animals for survival. Later bows and arrows became weapons in war. Ancient Egyptians mastered how to use the bow and arrow in 5000 BC. Bows and arrows were very popular weapons in ancient civilizations, and the use of bows and arrows in China began in the Shang Dynasty.
The history of archery in Europe dates back at least to the Middle Ages, and the legendary Robin Hood is a famous figure, with the moniker "Robin Hood" meaning to split a bull's-eye arrow with an arrow from it.
In modern times, with the emergence and use of firearms, cold weapons such as bows and arrows gradually withdrawn from the war stage, but because of its fitness function, athleticism, recreation and other characteristics of the upper class, bow and arrow hunting has been preferred by royalty and nobility around the world. With the process of human history and civilization, archery gradually popularized, civilian, modern social life has developed into a sport for people's entertainment and leisure.
Modern archery began in the United Kingdom, since 1673, held in Yorkshire, England, the Fonsecourt Silver Archery Tournament has been continued to the present day. 1787, the United Kingdom established the Royal Archery Association, the world's earliest archery organization. 19th century, archery into the United States, the establishment of the Philadelphia Archery Federation in 1828, 1844, held the first All-British Archery Championships. 1861, British Archery Association was established to unify the competition. In 1861, the British Archery Association was established, and the competition regulations were unified. 1879, the National Archery Association was established, and the 1st National Archery Tournament was held in Chicago in the same year. 1931, the first World Archery Championships were held.
Between 1900 and 1920, archery was an Olympic sport on several occasions, but it did not appear in the Olympics for more than 50 years until the 1972 Munich Olympics, and since then, it has been a regular Olympic sport.
The archery competition field is required to be flat, from south to north, about 130 meters long and 150 meters wide. Bow by the bow handle, bow surface and a pair of top with ring buckle elastic bow wing composition, bowstring can be made of polyester thread or other materials, arrows, including arrows, arrow shaft, arrow buttons and arrow feathers, the production of materials are not limited. The target can be made of paper, cloth or other materials.
Competition arrows shall be marked with the name or initials of the competitor on each arrow and shall be distinguished by a feather of a specific color and style. The style, feather and color of the arrows used in the same group must be the same. The weight of the bows used in the men's competition is around 22 kilograms, while the women's is around 15 kilograms.
Competition players stand at a distance of 70 meters from the target plate, the target plate is a diameter of 1.22 meters in a circle, from the center outwards for the yellow, red, light blue, black and white five concentric circles of equal width color area. Shooting center of the target will be recorded as 10 rings, shooting the outermost circle is recorded as 1 ring, the closer the circle from the center of the target, the higher the score after shooting.

The number of participants in the Olympic Games competition is 64 athletes of each gender for the individual competition, and Olympic Committees with three individual competitors shortlisted for the Olympics can participate in the team competition. Each Olympic Committee has a maximum of three men and women to participate in the individual competition, and then there are men and women to participate in the team competition of a team (consisting of three people), athletes can participate in both team and individual competitions. In the individual competition, 64 players will compete in a 1-to-1 single-elimination tournament, with the winners of the semi-finals competing for the gold and silver medals, and the losers having to play a match to determine the bronze medal.
Archery is single-elimination. Individual qualifiers each shoot 6 rounds of arrows, each round must shoot 12 arrows in 4 minutes, **** 72 arrows; to determine the 64 individual finalists and 16 team finalists.
Individual elimination rounds (from the qualifying rounds 1st to 64th, 2nd to 63rd, and so on) using 12-arrow tiebreaker, elimination rounds before the top 16 for two people at the same time, shooting two rounds, each round in four minutes to complete six arrows; from the Quarterfinals, 12 arrows in four rounds of three arrows per round (each arrow within 30 seconds to shoot).
Teams use elimination rounds, with Rank 1 vs. Rank 16, Rank 2 vs. Rank 15, and so on. The first round of each team *** shooting 24 arrows, shot in four rounds of 6 arrows per round (2 arrows per player). From the Quarterfinals onwards, the 24 arrows are fired three at a time, with three players taking turns.
If an arrow lands right on the end of another arrow on the target face, it is scored according to the ring value of the arrow that has hit the target. If an arrow goes through the target, or bounces off the target, it will be scored according to the hit point or unmarked hole left on the target. Regardless of whether the arrow hits the target or not, the arrow is scored when it crosses beyond the 3-meter line; if the arrow accidentally hits the ground, but part of the shaft falls within the 3-meter line, the arrow is judged as not shot and another arrow can be shot.
The spectator behavior is like a double-edged sword, only the correct use of it can make the audience become an integral part of the whole wonderful archery competition. Uncivilized viewing behavior, anachronistic applause and cheering may affect the archery player's skill and stability of play. Therefore, the audience should be civilized when watching the competition and strictly abide by the following requirements:
(1) Go to the designated audience seats. As archery competitions have a certain degree of danger, so be sure to follow the requirements of the field of play to the designated seats, do not go to the forbidden zone, so as to avoid danger.
(2) Loud noise, playing, fighting and smoking are strictly prohibited in the competition venue. Cell phones should be turned off or set on vibrate or mute. The field of play must be kept quiet when athletes are firing arrows so as not to affect the athletes' concentration.
(3) Don't skimp on the applause. After the athlete shoots a precise good arrow, the audience should give a warm applause; even if the shot is not a good arrow, it should be applauded to be encouraged, rather than booing and applauding down.
(4) Support for athletes should be timely. Should know in the appropriate time to support the athletes, outbreak of applause, when the athletes are aiming, to be launched, do not suddenly outbreak of sound, which is watching the archery competition in particular to pay attention to.
