The traditional spoil system of Zhu family in Ming Dynasty
Polygamy was practiced in feudal times, and there were countless concubines in the emperor's harem, but there was generally only one queen in the main palace, that is, the only "wife" of the emperor, and the other concubines were just "concubines".
Although most of the courtiers in the palace are because the emperor loves concubines, there are countless lovers among the emperors. For example, Emperor Guangwu and Empress Yin Lihua, Xian Di and Empress Cao Jie, Wendi and Empress Dugu Jialuo, Emperor Taizong and Empress Shi.
Throughout the dynasties, the Ming Dynasty was the one who loved the queen's wife the most. There are He, Ming and Xu, Ming Renzong and Zhang, Ming Yingzong and Qian. Even in the Ming Dynasty, there was only one monogamous emperor in history-Zhu Youtang, Emperor Xiaozong of Ming Dynasty.
According to the Ming History, "Xiaozong loved the queen deeply, and there were no concubines in the harem, and the queen lived together." In fact, since ancient times, Empress Dowager Cixi has never lived together. Ming Chengzu lived in Gan Qing Palace and Ming Chengzu lived in Kunning Palace. However, Zhu Youtang and the Queen live together, just like a folk couple.
So that the envoys of the Korean dynasty who came to worship were dumbfounded. According to Records of the Li Dynasty, filial piety in the Ming Dynasty "loved the queen".
During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, consorts were extremely strict, and because of their love for filial piety, the family of Empress Zhang was the peak of consorts in the Ming Dynasty (except the ancestor Xu). Queen Zhang's father became the first concubine in the Ming Dynasty to be posthumously sealed after her death, and her two younger brothers were also sealed. You know, fifty years after Yingzong Qian became queen, an earl came out of her family.
In the Ming Dynasty, there were 50 mu of Prince's Tomb, and Xiaozong gave 30 hectares of land to Queen Zhang's father, which was equivalent to 60 times of the land used for Prince's Tomb. There were only three imperial edicts for Ming Chengzu to set up tombstones for courtiers-from Sun Yat-sen's Mausoleum and Ming Chengzu's prime ministers Yao and Ming Xianzong to his father-in-law.
It can be said that his love for his wife, Queen Zhang, is beyond measure, even to an excessive degree. Thanks to Queen Zhang, it makes sense for the queen to be spoiled. If she is a concubine, filial piety will be criticized by future generations, and Queen Zhang will certainly not be tolerated by history books.
Since ancient times, the so-called love of the empress can't be the same as that of the people, and it's impossible to spoil too much or not enough. Although the queen is a wife, most of them can only be partners; The emperor loves the queen again, and he needs to always consider the country and even the children.
