What are the advantages of architectural curtain wall

Curtain wall is different from the infill wall, it has the following characteristics:

1. It is a complete structural system composed of panels and supporting structures;

2. It can withstand large deformation in its own plane or relative to the main structure can have enough displacement capacity;

3. It is not sharing the main structure of the load and the role of the enclosure structure.

Curtain wall usually consists of panels (glass, aluminum, stone, ceramic panels, etc.) and the supporting structure behind (aluminum beams columns, steel, glass ribs, etc.). This fa?ade system is supported on the main structure and usually encapsulates it. Because of the wide gaps between the panels and the mobility of the panels in connection with the beams and columns, the curtain wall can withstand a large deformation of 1/100 in the plane. If the curtain wall is connected to the main structure by bolts, rocker arms, and spring mechanisms, it can produce large relative displacements between the two, and the curtain wall will not be damaged even when the main structure is shifted sideways up to 1/60.
