Fiber Optic Interface Types

Fiber optic interfaces are interface standards used to connect fiber optics to various optical devices and networks. The following are some common types of fiber optic interfaces:

LC Interface: The LC interface is a very common, small, low-cost, and high-density fiber optic interface typically used for Gigabit Ethernet, and is much tighter and faster than the SC interface.

SC Interface: The SC interface is a more common traditional fiber optic interface with a round housing design that is less repeatable than the LC interface, but is still used in many applications.

ST interface: ST interface is an early fiber optic connection standard, using a cylindrical shell connector, can be connected to the multi-core fiber optic cable, is now gradually replaced by more advanced interfaces.

FC interface: FC interface is usually used for lower rate fiber optic signal transmission, which uses threaded connectors for both multimode and singlemode fibers.

Advantages of Fiber Optics

MPO/MTP Interface: The MPO/MTP interface is a high-density fiber optic interface that allows for the simultaneous transmission of multiple fiber optic streams for use in high-speed data centers and computer networks.

High Speed Transmission: Fiber optics have a very fast transmission rate with high bandwidth that can support faster communication speeds and transfer large amounts of data.

Long-distance transmission: fiber optic transmission distance is longer than cable, up to tens of kilometers or even hundreds of kilometers, and the transmission signal will not be subject to electromagnetic interference.

Signal quality: optical fiber transmits signals of better quality and does not lose information or distort due to electrical interference or attenuation during cable transmission.

Security: Since fiber optic transmission often uses infrared rays, it cannot be scanned by electromagnetic signals or steal information, and the confidentiality is better.
