Jize folk cloth is a pure cotton handmade jacquard textile, commonly called "coarse cloth". It is made by the ancient weaving and dyeing method (i.e., a kind of weaving and dyeing technique passed down from the era of Zodiac) (commonly known as old cloth). The process has a long history, with the earliest record of Zeng Zi's mother weaving cloth in the "Strategies of the Warring States". During the Yuan and Ming Dynasties, with the large-scale cultivation of cotton in the Yellow River Basin, the use of cotton as raw material for spinning and weaving became more and more common. People kneaded the traditional kudzu, hemp and silk weaving process into the cotton spinning process. At that time, the process was relatively rough, monotonous color, fewer varieties. With the improvement of textile tools in the Ming and Qing dynasties, folk cloth weaving and dyeing technology has improved greatly, planting cotton, spinning, weaving gradually formed a scale.

At this time, people in the textile technology research, reform and development, production of many weaving and dyeing technology fine products, including cloth words, cloth couplets, bean flour flower cloth, printing and dyeing flower cloth and other products, mostly for the peasant girl married for their own use. With the advent of the era of commercialization and mechanization, the cloth process by the impact of modern textile tends to be silent.
