People who love Korean culture will not be unfamiliar with Korean surnames. Among the common Korean surnames, such as Kong, Li, Min, Jin, Lu Heming ... I believe such surnames are not unfamiliar to us in China, but we will feel a little familiar and cordial.

In the past two or three decades, it is not uncommon for Koreans to come to China to worship their ancestors, but friends who don't know the specific situation may still be puzzled or even surprised by this move of Koreans. Today, let's look at the historical origin of this social phenomenon.

South Korea's respect for ancestors

Of course, it is Confucian etiquette to recognize one's ancestors and return to the ancestors. As we all know, Confucianism originated in China, and China people have always advocated ancestor worship. Our neighbor Korea has been deeply influenced by Confucianism for thousands of years. In Korean traditional culture and customs, they follow the concept of orderly aging, respecting the old and loving the young, and they attach importance to the family and respect the tradition.

In Korean TV dramas, you will find that Koreans strictly establish the dignity of the elderly and must use respectful words to the elderly and elders. When talking to the old man, you should take off your sunglasses and never talk back to him.

After marriage, the main task of Korean women is to return to their families and take good care of their elders, lovers and children. The idea that men are the masters and women are the masters is still prevalent.

In addition to the traditional festival ceremony system, ancestor worship is also a characteristic custom of Koreans. In the traditional Korean belief, there is a soul after death. Therefore, every major festival, Koreans will prepare rich food in advance, and then gather their families to worship their ancestors and pray for blessing.

Many Korean ancestors came from China.

In different periods of history, due to various historical events and special reasons such as war, making a living, studying and marriage. People leave their native land, embark on a trip to a foreign land, and even finally take root and grow sturdily in a foreign country.

According to historical records, at the end of the Yuan Dynasty in China, a man named Ming Yuzhen was the leader of the peasant uprising in Sichuan and Chongqing. 1362, the capital of Chongqing, the country name "Daxia". Later, Daxia was destroyed by Zhu Yuanzhang, the founding emperor of the Ming Dynasty, and the descendants of Yu Zhen of the Ming Dynasty were sent to Korea to settle down. Historically, South Korea is now the Korean Peninsula. At this point, the Ming family became a family, flourishing in the Korean peninsula.

1in the summer of 992, a businessman named Ming Jae-lu from Busan, South Korea, arrived in Chongqing with his family tree. Under the interpretation of the translator, the local foreign affairs department understood Ming Zailu's purpose and successfully helped him fulfill his wish.

It turns out that according to genealogy records, Ming Zai Lu is the 24th generation grandson of Ming Taizu Ming Yu Zhen. When Ming Zailu came to China for business, he also hoped to find accurate information about his ancestor Ming Yuzhen's mausoleum. Since then, every year on the sixth day of the second lunar month, many Koreans named Ming will come to Chongqing, China, to pay homage to their ancestor Ming Yuzhen, who was buried in the Jiangbei area of Chongqing after his death.

Confucius, a great educator in China, had a disciple named Min Ziqian. During the Northern Song Dynasty, Min Kui, a descendant of Min Zikai, was sent to Korea by the monarch and later settled in Huanghai Road on the Korean Peninsula. Min praised his moral integrity and noble virtues, and was deeply respected by the Korean people for spreading Confucianism and culture. Therefore, in ancient Korea, Min was a noble family, and North Korea and its queens, including Ming Cheng, the last famous queen of North Korea, were all Min. Today, more than 400,000 Min people in Korea are proud that their ancestors are Min people.

After the Yuan Dynasty, descendants of Confucius, a great educator, also began to migrate overseas, and some of them went to the Korean Peninsula. According to statistics, there are currently more than 80,000 descendants of Confucius in Korea, of whom 30,000 have been included in the genealogy of Confucius. Every year on Confucius' birthday, many descendants of Confucius from South Korea come to the Confucius Temple in Qufu, Shandong Province to worship their ancestors.

Former South Korean President Lu Taiyu's Root-seeking Journey

To say that Koreans come to China to seek their roots and worship their ancestors, the most famous one is former South Korean President Lu Taiyu.

Lu Taiyu, 1932 was born in a peasant family in gyeongsangbuk-do, South Korea, and was a general and politician in South Korea. He participated in the Vietnam War and served as the President of South Korea from 1988 to 1993. During his tenure, South Korea established friendly diplomatic relations with China, the former Soviet Union and other countries.

1992, Lu Taiyu, then president of the Republic of Korea, paid a state visit to China. Due to the tight schedule, he couldn't find his roots to worship his ancestors. However, he said that after retirement, he would definitely come to China to seek roots and worship his ancestors.

In 2000, after seven years as South Korean president, he came to China again with his wife and children, and made a special trip to Luzhuang Village, Changqing County, Shandong Province, where Lu had lived for generations. They came to Luzhuang Village, Shandong Province, to personally sweep graves and plant memorial trees. Later, they paid homage to Jiang Ziya's cenotaph and Jiang Taigong Temple, and took a group photo in front of Lu Guojun's tomb, realizing their long-cherished wish.

Many people will have questions. What is the relationship between Lu Taiyu's surname Lu and Jiang Ziya's surname Jiang? Why does Lu Taiyu insist that he is a descendant of Jiang Ziya? Then let's look through the long scroll of history and find out why.

Jiang Ziya, whose real name is Shang and whose road number is flying bear, was born in Shang Dynasty. Later, because of his contribution to Zhou Wuwang's attack, he became a famous minister in West Zhou Wuwang. The fief is in Qi, and its capital is in Yingqiu. The ancients used to take place names as surnames, so later generations took fiefs as surnames. Therefore, the ancestor of "Qiu" was Jiang Ziya, from which several surnames of Qi, Lu and Gao were derived, but all of them were descendants of Jiang Ziya.

During the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, Jiang Ziya's Di 1 1 Sun Gaonuo was enfeoffed in Shandong. Because ancient people often took place names as surnames, later generations took "Lu" as their surnames. In the process of being handed down from generation to generation, a very famous descendant of Lu was born, a master of Confucianism in the Three Kingdoms period.

At the end of the Tang Dynasty, Lu Ai, then the leader of the Lu clan, led his people to cross the Bohai Sea eastward and drifted to the Korean Peninsula, where they took root. Thousands of years later, Lu's descendants spread all over South Korea, and Lu Taiyu was one of them.

It can be seen that with the spread of Confucian culture, a strong sense of clan has influenced many Asian countries adjacent to China. For thousands of years, China people who have taken root overseas have a deep attachment to their hometown, and they are proud of their surnames, their ancestral homes and their hearts. In addition to Lu Taiyu, former Philippine President Mrs. Aquino, famous Thai politician thaksin shinawatra, and Yingla brothers and sisters are all proud of their China descendants. During their tenure and after leaving office, they visited China many times to seek roots and worship their ancestors.

The concept of water is active, trees have roots, clan and blood relatives are a kind of spirit, but also a kind of strength. Clan and blood relationship make people's sense of identity, belonging and honor span the distance between time and space and closely unite together. We hope that all China people in the world will deeply remember that the beautiful and prosperous China is worthy of your pride, and those of you who are struggling in Qian Qian are also proud of pride of chinese. Your roots are in China, and the motherland always welcomes China people to go home!
