What are the main areas where the Miao are located and what is their population?

The Miao is one of the more populous ethnic groups in Yunnan, and according to the fourth national census, there are 895,700 Miao in Yunnan. 942,600 people were there in 1998, accounting for 7.11% of the total population of ethnic minorities in Yunnan. The Miao live in a relatively decentralized manner, and are found in almost all parts of the province. There are 123 counties with a population of more than 5,000, and there are four counties with a population of more than 50,000, namely, Guangnan, Jinping, Pingbian, and Maguan.
