What is the Beijing Rhyme Drum?

Jingyun drum, also known as silent drum and small mouth drum, was formed in the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China, and is mainly popular in North China and Northeast China, including Beijing and Tianjin. Its origin is wooden drum, which was popular in Cangzhou and Hejian of Hebei Province in the late Qing Dynasty and introduced to Beijing and Tianjin. Accompaniment instruments include Sanxian, Hu Si, Pipa and other instruments, and the actors master the rhythm by tapping the drum board. In the aria, it absorbs the pronunciation, articulation and some aria of Beijing opera, and a large number of songs of "Zidishu" are used in the jokes. Traditional operas include Single Knife Club, Battle of Changsha, Bowangpo, Ugly Man's Later Stage, Return to the Ship after the Storm, etc.
