Jiu Lao Shi ba Jiang

People often say that "the master is among the people", which is not adulterated at all. Since ancient times, skilled craftsmen have emerged one after another in China. Folks call those skilled craftsmen who make a living by craft "nine old and eighteen craftsmen". In fact, "nine" and "eighteen" here refer to quantity, not exact quantity.

Who are these nine people? What is eighteen artisans?

Generally speaking, "Jiulao" refers to: pulling pigs (pig veterinarians), killing pigs (butchers), herding cattle (cattle veterinarians), beating walls, squeezing (artificial oil extraction), shaving heads, mending pots, pedicure and drumming.

Artisans refer to goldsmiths, silversmiths, coppersmith, blacksmith, carpenter, sculptor, painter, mason, drummer, chair, umbrella, painter, shoemaker, weaver, dyer, painter, Potter, scissors grinder and shovel. ...

With the rapid development of society, many traditional skills have disappeared. There are only a few craftsmen who live among the people with ancient wisdom.
