Flower Drum Opera in southern Anhui, formerly known as Hua Gutiao, is one of the five major operas in Anhui. During the Tongzhi period of Qing Dynasty, a large number of immigrants from Hubei and Henan moved to southern Anhui, bringing the local operas from Hua Gutiao and Henan to folk communication. The latter two kinds of folk arts were integrated with folk songs and dances in southern Anhui, and accepted the artistic influence of brothers' operas such as Anhui Opera and Beijing Opera, and gradually formed a local opera with rough, simple and lively artistic style and distinctive local colors. Originally Yiyang dialect, it was introduced into Huizhou in Jiajing period of Ming Dynasty (1522- 1566). In addition to Hui and Kun, the tunes are mainly plucked and mixed with leather springs. During folk festivals, Huizhou classes are performed locally. For a long time, some young people and intellectuals in the village have learned to sing Huizhou Opera. At the end of the Qing Dynasty, "singing classes" appeared in rural areas, playing oratorios for ancestral temple sacrifices and family weddings. The actors in Fuling boys' class rehearsed at the age of five or six, went on stage as walk-ons at the age of six or seven, and then worked as supporting actors. At the age of thirteen or fourteen, he was chosen as the leading actor with outstanding acting skills, and/kloc-stopped acting after 0/5. Jixi "Huizhou Opera Boys Class" was selected as the second batch of provincial intangible cultural heritage list.
Shadow play in southern Anhui was introduced to China with immigrants from Hubei and Henan during Tongzhi period of Qing Dynasty, and it was popular in Xuan, Lang and Guang counties and neighboring Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces. Shadow play in southern Anhui is carved into characters with treated transparent cowhide. During the performance, the actors operate behind the scenes and unfold on the screen through the lights. In the vast rural areas of Xuancheng, watching shadow play has long been a traditional custom of working people, especially on holidays, weddings, funerals and harvest festivals, people have to set up a stage to sing several shadow plays, and that lively scene has become a major folk cultural landscape in Xuancheng area.
