How do logs become planks?

Log boards: formed directly from logs sawn, width and length are limited by the size of the log, the specifications are not uniform, generally used for wood flooring, packing boxes, rugged (primitive) style furniture, or as a raw material for further processing. In ancient times, when there was no modern high-pressure bonding technology, there were only two ways to obtain large-size planks with: one is to find the largest possible diameter log cut, high cost, small quantities; the second is to use mortise and tenon joints to join the small planks, processing laborious, easy to open the seam. Log boards need to be properly dried and stress relieved to avoid future warping and cracking. The advantages are beautiful pattern, high strength, natural environmental protection without formaldehyde release.

Finger-joined panel: solid wood panels from multiple boards spliced together, the thickness of each board and the thickness of the finished boards are the same, the top and bottom are no longer glued to the plywood, due to the vertical boards between the use of jagged interfaces, similar to the fingers of the hands of the two hands cross docking, so it is called finger-joined panels. Woodworking board: also known as the core board, wood core board, is made of veneer plus the middle of the outer layer of glued spliced wood strips of man-made panels. The upper and lower veneer is obtained by rotary cutting or planing of logs, the thickness of 1mm or so, the role of the complete package of panels, to provide lateral strength, presenting a beautiful wood grain. The intermediate splicing strips are made of equal length, width and thickness after drying, and are glued together to provide a certain thickness and strength for the board. Woodworking board on the log material requirements are not high, you can use a variety of materials and sizes of logs, wood utilization rate is high, with less glue less formaldehyde release, and to a certain extent has the characteristics of solid wood.
