What musical instrument is kalimba?
Kalimba is a national musical instrument with national characteristics in Africa. Strictly speaking, kalimba was invented twice in Africa. The first generation of kalimba appeared in West Africa about 3,000 years ago. At that time, pianos were made entirely of plant materials, such as bamboo.
About 1, 300 years ago, the Zambezi River valley in southeast Africa ushered in the Iron Age, and the kalimba made of metal keys came into being.
Kalimba has different names in different African countries. For example, in Kenya, people call it kalimba, while in Zimbabwe, it is called Mbila, and the Congolese call it Rikmbe. It also has three miscellaneous, thumb piano and other names. It is said that Zimbabweans believe that the music played by this instrument can not only drive away evil spirits from patients, but also pray for rain, so it is one of the most popular instruments in Zimbabwe.
But in China, it is called kalimba, which is transliteration. Because kalimba is an instrument that makes sound by plucking the strings with two thumbs, we also call it Thumb Qin.
As mentioned above, kalimba is a relatively small and simple musical instrument, which can basically teach itself. Now many good kalimba brands on the market will send tutorials directly to beginners. If you plan to buy it, I suggest sending a tutorial, which will be much more cost-effective.
