String sweeping refers to a kind of guitar technique which uses a pick or fingers (some people use their nails) to pluck several strings at a time in order to achieve special playing effects. This technique plays an important role in folk guitar, but it is not easy to sweep it well. The most important thing in strumming is to be crisp. You can only pronounce one sound per sweep, which is nice.
