The Core Values of Confucianism

What core values does Confucianism provide for the Chinese people?

Three: benevolence, justice, and self-improvement. Benevolence is the domain of Confucius; justice is mainly the domain of Mencius; and self-improvement is mainly the domain of Xunzi.

Renai, as a Confucian category, includes three elements: affectionate love, loyalty and forgiveness, and compassion.

What is meant by kissing? The first pro is a verb, the second pro is a noun. It means to be dear to one's loved ones, first to love one's parents, and second to love one's brothers; these two add up to kiss-kiss. To love one's parents is called filial piety, and to love one's brothers is called brotherly love. Filial piety and fraternal duty add up to kinship. Kissing is the human foundation of benevolence.

What is loyalty and forgiveness? I want to stand up for myself, and I want to reach out to others. What is forgiveness? Do not do unto others what you would not have them do unto you. Together they are called loyalty and forgiveness.

Confucius said: "Those who are benevolent love others. The idea of benevolence is one of the core ideas of Confucianism, and the extension of filial piety, fraternal duty and loyalty, which emphasizes the concept of family ethics and the principle of tolerance and restraint in dealing with others, is a concrete embodiment of the core ideas of Confucianism.

Compassion was introduced by Mencius. Compassion means sadness. It means that when you see others grieving, you also grieve, and this heart is called the heart of compassion or the heart of intolerance. Compassion is a kind of intolerance, not tolerating the suffering of others for no reason. Intolerance is the foundation of morality. With the heart of intolerance, one can compare one's heart with one's mind and extend it to others. Compassion is the most important element in the category of benevolence.

Justice is the view of Mencius. Kong said to become benevolent, and Mencius said to take righteousness. It was Mencius who juxtaposed benevolence and righteousness. To be righteous, one must be kind and loving, and it is regulated by "righteousness". This kind of righteousness has given our nation a very good ideological and cultural character and sentiment. Both benevolence and righteousness can mold a great personality, benevolence molds a great and generous personality, righteousness molds a great and strong personality.

Self-improvement is mainly Xunzi's category. The idea that a gentleman's self-improvement comes from Xunzi.
