Changsha's traditional customs include: Xiang embroidery, Liuyang fireworks, Wangcheng paper-cutting, Changsha brown weaving, chrysanthemum stone carving and so on.

1, Xiang embroidery

Xiang Embroidery is one of the four famous embroideries in China, and it is the general name of Xiang Embroidery products with distinctive cultural characteristics of Hunan and Chu. It originated from Hunan folk embroidery, absorbed the advantages of Suzhou embroidery and Guangdong embroidery and developed, with a history of more than 2000 years. 2. Liuyang fireworks

The production of Liuyang Fireworks adopts traditional manual skills, using locally purchased earthenware paper, earth nitrate, sulfur, carbon powder and white mud as processing raw materials, with a total of 12 processes and 72 processes. On March 6, 2003, the former General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine approved the protection of Liuyang fireworks geographical indications.

3. Wangcheng Paper-cut

Wangcheng paper-cut is a traditional folk art in Changsha, Hunan. It has neither a draft nor a blueprint. It captures the imagination in people's minds and cuts out various figures, flowers, Wu and other patterns by hand. The modeling shed is lifelike, and the knives are connected, giving people a beautiful feeling. Wangcheng paper-cut is rich in Chu culture characteristics, simple in shape, smooth in lines, strong in movement and full of life interest. Wangcheng folk paper-cut artists can come forth in large numbers with different styles, which is a unique art form and enjoys a high reputation at home and abroad.

4. Changsha Brown Weaving

Changsha palm weaving is a small handicraft made of palm leaves, but few people know that it is the best in Jiangnan. Changsha brown braid belongs to intangible cultural heritage, and it is called "Changsha Three Musts" because of its beauty of brown braid, Hunan embroidery and the wonder of chrysanthemum stone carving. There are many palm trees growing in the countryside of Changsha, which provides a unique natural condition for palm weaving technology. According to legend, the palm weaving of arts and crafts began in the Three Kingdoms period, with a history of 1700 years.

5. Chrysanthemum stone carving

The carving skill of chrysanthemum stone is a traditional handicraft skill with a long history in China. The modeling design of chrysanthemum stone carving is based on the understanding and investigation of materials, and strives for artistic conception, realism and formal beauty. The application of carving techniques is to use different carving techniques according to different themes and modeling designs. In general, line carving, relief carving, round carving and hollow carving can be used at the same time. In 2006, it was selected as the first batch of intangible cultural heritage in Changsha.
