12 Key Areas of National Security

Legal basis: National Security Law of the People's Republic of China
Article 15 Organs, groups and other organizations shall educate their own personnel on the maintenance of national security, and mobilize and organize their own personnel to prevent and stop acts that endanger national security.
Article 16 Citizens and organizations shall provide facilities or other assistance for the work of national security.
Article 17 Citizens who discover acts endangering national security shall directly or through their organizations promptly report them to the national security organs or public security organs.
Article 18 When the state security organs are investigating and understanding the situation concerning the endangering of national security, or collecting relevant evidence, citizens and relevant organizations shall truthfully provide it, and shall not refuse it.
Article 19 Any citizen or organization shall keep the state secrets of national security work known to them.
Article 20 No individual or organization shall unlawfully possess documents, information or other articles that are state secrets.
Article 21 No individual or organization shall unlawfully possess or use special espionage equipment such as wiretapping or photo-tapping.
Article 22 Any citizen or organization shall have the right to report or file a complaint with a higher state security organ or the relevant department against the state security organs and their personnel for overstepping their authority, abusing their authority or committing other unlawful acts.
Superior state security organs or relevant departments shall promptly investigate the facts and deal with them responsibly. No one shall suppress or retaliate against any citizen or organization that assists the state security organs in their work or makes a report or complaint in accordance with the law.
