On June 5438+ 10, 2006, the "Decision of the Central Committee on Several Major Issues in Building a Harmonious Socialist Society" adopted by the Sixth Plenary Session of the 16th CPC Central Committee clearly put forward the major proposition and strategic task of "building a socialist core value system" for the first time. In 2007, General Secretary Hu emphasized in his important speech on "June 25th" that it is necessary to vigorously build a socialist core value system and consolidate the ideological foundation of the United struggle of the whole party and the people of the whole country. The socialist core value system includes four basic contents, namely, the guiding ideology of Marxism, the national spirit of Socialism with Chinese characteristics with patriotism as the core, the spirit of the times with reform and innovation as the core, and the socialist concept of honor and disgrace. The 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China put forward for the first time that it advocates prosperity, democracy, civilization and harmony, freedom, equality, justice and the rule of law, patriotism, professionalism, honesty and friendliness, and actively cultivates and practices the socialist core values.

The guiding ideology of Marxism is the soul of the socialist core value system. We are a socialist country, and Marxism is the fundamental guiding ideology for building the party and the country and the banner of socialist ideology. It provides us with a scientific world outlook and methodology, and determines the nature and direction of the socialist core value system.

As a theory that originated from 150 years ago, why should it persist today? Adhere to Marxism, because it is a scientific truth, organically combine strict scientificity with high revolutionary, and reveal the development law of human society. Looking around the world today, there are various theoretical thoughts and schools, but it is undeniable that Marxism is still at the peak of the history of human social thought and is still a beacon to guide human progress. Marxism is an open theoretical system, which is always based on objective facts, absorbs, draws lessons from and integrates various outstanding ideological and cultural achievements, and keeps advancing and developing in practice. For more than 80 years, the Communist Party of China (CPC) insisted on combining the basic principles of Marxism with the reality of China, successively formed three theoretical achievements of Mao Zedong Thought, Deng Xiaoping Theory and Theory of Three Represents, and put forward a series of important strategic thoughts such as Scientific Outlook on Development, which constantly endowed Marxism with strong vitality. It is under the guidance of China Marxism that our Party has been moving from victory to victory, turning a poor and backward China into an initially prosperous and powerful China.

The unity of Socialism with Chinese characteristics and ideal is the theme of the socialist core value system. In the historical evolution of 5,000 years, the Chinese nation has formed a great national spirit of unity, peace-loving, hard-working, courage and self-improvement with patriotism as the core. Whether a society is harmonious or not and whether a country can achieve long-term stability depends largely on the ideological and moral quality of all members of society. Only by distinguishing honor and disgrace from good and evil can a person form a correct value judgment and a society form a good moral trend. In a developing country with a population of more than 65.438+0.3 billion and 56 nationalities, to achieve the goal and pursuit of career development and social harmony, we must consolidate the guiding position of Marxism in the ideological field, establish correct ideals and beliefs, advocate the great national spirit and the spirit of the times, and establish values and codes of conduct that everyone knows and universally pursues.

The socialist concept of honor and disgrace with "eight honors and eight disgraces" as the main content is incisive and profound, which runs through all fields of social life and covers all interest groups, including all aspects of life attitude and social fashion.
