Common faults and maintenance methods of automobile engine.

First, abnormal wear of lubricating oil. After driving for a certain mileage, the dashboard quickly shows that the amount of lubricating oil is insufficient. There are usually three reasons:

1. There may be a problem with the seal of the engine piston, resulting in excessive clearance between the piston and the cylinder wall and burning engine oil.

2. It is possible that the engine parts are seriously worn, which makes the gap between parts too large and causes different lubricating oil wear.

3. The used lubricating oil is not up to standard, resulting in abnormal oil consumption and abnormal lubricating oil wear. First, check the oil quality and oil quantity, and replace the lubricating oil when necessary to avoid the engine from not running normally due to oil quality problems. After the oil quality problem is eliminated, check the parts one by one. It may be that the parts are badly worn, the clearance between parts is too large or the oil pressure is too high, which leads to the oil escaping into the combustion chamber. The main reason of oil leakage is that the gasket is hard and aging, and the valve is stuck.

Second, the engine overheating fault is prone to the phenomenon that the coolant temperature is too high. Once the cooling temperature exceeds the normal value, the engine cannot dissipate heat normally, which will lead to overheating of the engine and affect the normal operation of the engine. The main reasons for the abnormal operation of the cooling system are thermostat failure, radiator failure, fan failure, water tank blockage and so on. The dashboard of the car suggests that when the coolant temperature is abnormal, stop to check whether the coolant leaks. It should be noted that you can't stop immediately when it is hot, and you can't add coolant immediately. Don't operate until the engine temperature is normal. If there is a large amount of coolant, troubleshoot the engine thermostat and fan cooling.

Third, the smell of the engine compartment is affected by the high temperature of the engine, and the surrounding wires are easy to burn or coke, giving off a pungent smell. It is also possible that a large amount of grease is applied in the maintenance process, and the odor generated will come out with the increase of engine temperature. If the car is found to have a pungent smell or burnt smell during driving, stop immediately, check that there are wireless circuits around the engine that are softened or burnt, and repair the burnt or short-circuited lines in time to avoid a bigger safety accident. There is still an odor after the line fault is eliminated, so it should be considered whether the engine oil and foreign objects attached to the engine surface are volatilized or burned by heat.

Fourth, the exhaust color of the exhaust gas is abnormal. After normal combustion, the color of exhaust gas should be colorless. If the engine fails, the color of exhaust gas will change.

1. The tail gas is black because the fuel is not completely burned. Check the sensors related to air intake;

2. The fuel does not meet the combustion standards, or the water in gasoline will emit white tail gas. Check spark plug failure and fuel quality;

3. The tail gas is blue, which may be caused by excessive wear of the piston ring or alignment of the oil ring, so that the engine oil escapes into the combustion chamber, or the engine oil oozing from the valve guide participates in the combustion. Check whether there is any problem with the spark plug or valve oil seal, check it in time and replace it with a new one if necessary. Mastering the maintenance methods of engine faults can reduce the hidden dangers in driving, and at the same time, regular maintenance can make the engine service life longer.
