When did rice paper hot stamping originate?
Hot stamping, also known as pyrography and fire painting, is a traditional arts and crafts with a long history. It originated in Nanyang, a famous historical and cultural city in Henan Province, and is known as one of the three treasures in Nanyang. On June, 20265438, the State Council announced that Nanyang pyrography was the fifth batch of national intangible cultural heritage, and Nanyang pyrography factory was the protected unit of Nanyang pyrography project.
It uses iron skewers with a temperature of 300 to 800 degrees Celsius, and uses the principle of carbonization to paint on bamboo, silk, rice paper and other materials. According to historical records, pyrography originated in the Western Han Dynasty and flourished in the Eastern Han Dynasty, but it was once lost due to years of famine and war.
It was not until the third year of Guangxu that Zhao Xing, a Nanyang folk artist, rediscovered and sorted it out, which has continued to this day. There are many beautiful stories about the origin and development of Nanyang pyrography.
Hot stamping first inherited and developed Chinese painting, whether it is pyrography art or Chinese painting, it is essentially painting. The definition of painting should be grasped from two aspects: one is the artist's artistic accomplishment, including the ability to understand and express the feelings of beauty, and the other is the choice and application of tools and materials.
