What are the characteristics of Vesnia pottery in the first and second stages?

Vesuvius pottery was named after its origin, and it was popular in the early Minoan culture. According to the different production technology, the production and design of this kind of pottery can be divided into two stages. In the early days, a special coating was unevenly coated on the molded ceramic body. Due to the kiln change reaction in the firing process, the pottery shows a patch texture that gradually changes from brown to dark yellow and light yellow after firing, and there are dark uneven edge lines around the patch, which is called "striped pottery". From the modeling point of view, the characteristics of this kind of pottery focus on a unique long mouth modeling. The spout of a pottery pot is long and big, and the pouring spout is bird's beak after oblique cutting, sometimes its length can reach the same level as the pot body. The round and honest pot body is in sharp contrast with the pointed and light spout, giving people a light and lively feeling. Some researchers believe that this shape is the result of the influence of metal products. The late Vesuvius pottery is characterized by increasingly rich shapes and diversified decorative techniques. From relying mainly on the effect of kiln transformation, it has developed into colorful decoration with deep background color and bright patterns. Common patterns include triangle, diamond, vortex, ripple, fish, shell and coconut.
