Do you have to put a layer of any wax on your car after the tarnish remover wax?
Car waxes change as the paint changes, and the products available on the market are divided into two main categories: traditional waxes and modern waxes. Strictly speaking, only modern waxes can be used for modern paints (clear coats), while both types of waxes can be used for traditional paints. What is the difference between traditional wax and modern wax?
The main difference is the cleaning material, also called polishing material, contained in the wax. Traditional waxes often contain silica (a large, rough, jagged shaped substance), plus some chemical solvents and lubricants, which become extremely useful when used on hard traditional paints to effectively remove oxidized layers from the paint.
Because the polishing materials contained in traditional waxes, while removing oxidation and providing a good foundation for waxing, also cause swirling hairline scratches to the paint. Since traditional paint is pure color, these hairline scratches are not obvious and are difficult to observe with the naked eye. Modern paint is different. These hairline scratches can become very visible, so it is safe to say that traditional waxes are the most common enemy that harms modern paint.
