Huang Xuchu's former residence.

The former residence of Nanning, Huang Xuchu is located at No.53 Mingde Street, Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, adjacent to the former Yongning Telegraph Office in the west, covering an area of about 130 square meters, and the whole building faces east. The building is a rectangular three-story brick-wood structure with a total height of about10m. The four slopes are paved with small blue tiles, and the southwest roof is built with a square hard mountain brick and wood attic. There is a parapet around the building to drain water through the gutter. The indoor building floor is paved with red bricks, and each layer of external wall is equipped with double-opening glass windows, of which the top surface of the ground floor hall is plastic with embossed patterns. The whole building adopts a combination of Chinese and western architecture with "Chinese roof" and "western wall". In 2002, Nanning Municipal People's Government announced Huang Xuchu's former residence as a key cultural relic protection unit in Nanning.

Huang Xuchu's former residence, located on the north bank of Yongjiang River, has a history of nearly a hundred years. In 2006, Huang Xuchu's former residence was renovated, opened to the public free of charge, and added catering functions. Citizens can enjoy a delicious meal here after enjoying their hometown. The maintenance, development and protection of the old residence have introduced social capital, which has brought the maintenance and preservation of the old residence to a new level. Huang Xuchu's former residence in Nanning is called Xu Yuan, because Huang Xuchu's former residence is divided into front yard, main building and backyard, which constitutes a complete residential courtyard in the south of the Republic of China. The front yard has a wing on three sides, and you can enter the main building of Xu Yuan through the corridor of the southwest wing. The main building is the former residence of Huang Xuchu. The building faces east from east to west, and the building plane is rectangular. It is a three-story building with brick and wood structure, with four sloping roofs and small green tiles, and a square hard mountain brick and wood attic on the southwest roof. There are corridors in the east, south and north, with square brick columns and railings under the corridors. The indoor building is paved with red bricks, and the whole building adopts a combination of Chinese and western architecture with "Chinese roof" and "western wall".

After the renovation, the original peeling wall plaster has been replaced by yellow paint, and the decaying main beams have all been replaced, while the broken red bricks, decaying wooden ladder pedals and handrails on the ground have been replaced and transformed in the form of repairing the old ones. There are still some old photos hanging on the wall of the main building, which adds a sense of historical vicissitudes to the main building. Standing in the main building of Huang Xuchu's former residence, you can overlook Yongjiang River, and you can also clearly see the former site of Yongning telegraph office separated from the former residence by a wall. In the first quarter, the telegraph office was a two-story building with brick and wood structure. Most of the small blue tiles covered on the roof were broken and leaked out from the wooden beams. The whole building is based on the layout of traditional houses in Nanning, but it has been 85 years since the telegraph office was built, and the building has become a dangerous building. Pu Xiaodong, director of the mission department of Nanning Museum, revealed that according to the idea of Nanning cultural relics management department, the former site of Yongning Telegraph Bureau will be built into a public welfare telecommunications industry museum, which will focus on displaying various exhibits and pictures in the development of telecommunications, such as hand-cranked telephones in the Qing Dynasty. By then, the restored telegraph office, garden, Deng Memorial Hall, Lin's former residence and other ancient buildings will be opened together, and the ancient city walls and ancient rivers will become new cultural tourist areas for citizens and tourists. What is even more gratifying is that the Nanning Municipal Government has designated 2.6 mu of land around Xu Yuan and the former site of the telegraph office as a cultural relic protection area, so that we can pass on a more complete ancient building to future generations.
