Characteristics and customs of Zhuang nationality

The characteristics and customs of Zhuang nationality are as follows:

I. Characteristics

1, clothing function:

Middle-aged and elderly Zhuang women often wear collarless, left-collared, embroidered piping clothes and piping wide leg pants, embroidered waist, pleated skirt and embroidered shoes, and like to wear silver ornaments. Zhuang women in Longzhou and Pingxiang in southwest Guangxi still wear collarless black shirts with left collars, square black handkerchiefs on their heads and black wide-leg pants on their lower bodies.

2. Architectural features:

The ancient traditional house form "dry fence" is also called "hemp fence". There are two floors, one for people and the other for livestock and sundries. This residential form is the residential feature of Baiyue nationality in ancient times, which has a history of thousands of years. Because it has the advantages of adapting to the topography and climate in the southern mountainous areas and preventing the intrusion of poisonous snakes and beasts, it has been used until modern times.

3. Language features:

Zhuang language belongs to Zhuang-Dai branch of Zhuang-Dong language family of Sino-Tibetan language family. There are two dialects, North and South, but the grammatical structure and basic vocabulary are basically the same. Since the Tang and Song Dynasties, "vernacular Chinese" has been popular among Zhuang people. This kind of characters is based on Chinese characters, which are composed of the sound and meaning of Chinese characters.

However, due to the great differences in ancient Zhuang language and the lack of standardization, it is impossible to form a unified Zhuang language among Zhuang people in various places, and they mainly rely on Chinese for communication.

Second, the customs.

1, Zhuang folk songs:

When the ancestors of Zhuang people worked in the fields, many people shouted at the top of their lungs during the break to relieve physical fatigue and depressed emotions. In addition, at that time, the land was vast and sparsely populated, and people lived far away. Therefore, according to modern words, communication basically depended on yelling, and over time, a custom of "Gewei" with unique Zhuang folk customs was formed.

2. Marriage custom of Zhuang nationality

In ancient society, there were many traditional customs when Zhuang people got married, but one marriage custom was handed down from matriarchal society. Until modern society, some Zhuang people still followed this ceremony. That is to say, Zhuang women generally don't live in their in-laws after marriage, and many even go back to their parents' homes on their wedding night. I won't be at ease in my husband's house until I get pregnant.

The initial development of Zhuang nationality

"Xi 'ou" and "Luo Yue" who lived in Lingnan area recorded in the historical records of the Han nationality in the pre-Qin, Qin and Han dynasties were the most direct ancestors of Zhuang nationality.

In the pre-Qin period, a people named Baiyue was widely distributed in China from the south of the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River to the southeast coastal areas. Xi 'ou and Luojia, which are located in Guangdong and Guangxi today, are one of them. At that time, they were still in the development stage of clan and tribal society.

In 22 1 BC, after Qin Shihuang unified the six countries, he sent Wei Tusui to lead a 500,000-strong army, divided into five ways, and marched into Lingnan. In Yuechengling area, he met with strong resistance from Ou people. In 2 14 BC, Qin Shihuang sent Shi Lu to lead soldiers to open the mausoleum area and pay grain to transport soldiers. Since then, Qin Jun defeated the Xi 'ou people, unified the Lingnan area, and established Guilin, Nanhai and Xiangshan counties in Lingnan, formally bringing the area under the rule of the central dynasty.
