Wisdom in Tao Te Ching
Taoist culture plays an important role in China's traditional culture and in the history of China's academic thought. Together with Confucianism and Buddhism, it constitutes the three pillars of China's traditional culture and one of the three main streams of China's traditional culture, which has exerted a lasting and far-reaching influence on our society.
In the process of its emergence, long-term development and maturity, Taoist culture has penetrated into many categories of ideology, and has had a profound impact on China's politics, economy, philosophy, literature and art, science and technology, national psychology, social customs and other aspects, and played a serious role. Nowadays, Taoist culture has not withdrawn from the historical stage because of the passage of time, but is firmly rooted in the traditional culture of China.
Tao Te Ching, as a classic work of Taoism, fully shows the charm of China's ancient simple dialectics, and discusses in a few words the law of the emergence, development and change of things and the fundamental thoughts of Taoism on society and life.
I. Unity of opposites
"Tao, so to speak, is. The name can be named, ten. "Open the tao te ching, really is this sentence. The literal meaning of this sentence is that Tao is a general law of motion that can be followed, but it is not a constant general law of motion. According to the characteristics of things, it is a reflection of the appearance of things, but this appearance is not complete. The escape of Tao is a road, which can also be extended to the road of life. People have been walking on their own roads all their lives, and the Tao comes from people. As Mr. Lu Xun said, there was no road in this land, and more people walked, which became a road. Therefore, the so-called "Tao" is a road that everyone can take.
Laozi believes that competition, beauty and ugliness, before and after, and misfortune are complementary and unified, and even can be transformed into each other under certain conditions: misfortune depends on each other and misfortune lurks. This is the greatest dialectical thought of China in ancient times, which shows us the true relationship between opposites.
Second, reverse thinking.
Reverse thinking, also known as divergent thinking, is a way of thinking about common things or opinions that seem to have become conclusive. Dare to "do the opposite", let thinking develop in the opposite direction, conduct in-depth exploration from the opposite side of the problem, establish new concepts and shape new images.
When everyone is thinking in a fixed direction, but you are thinking in the opposite direction alone, this way of thinking is called reverse thinking. People are used to thinking about problems and seeking solutions along the positive direction of things. In fact, some problems, especially some special problems, may be simplified by deducing from the conclusion, thinking backwards, solving the known conditions and thinking backwards.
Confucianism in the Spring and Autumn Period advocated benevolence, courtesy, loyalty and filial piety, and believed that only such beauty could transform society and integrate the relationship between people.
However, I used reverse thinking. He believes that "the road is abandoned and there is righteousness; Wisdom comes out with great fallacies; Six parents are not harmonious and have filial piety; The country is in chaos, and there are loyal ministers. Therefore, after losing morality, after losing morality, after losing benevolence, after losing righteousness, after losing righteousness. "
Laozi believes that benevolence, filial piety and loyalty are precisely the manifestations of bad social atmosphere. This is a manifestation of the destruction of the avenue.
Third, don't argue.
Laozi said, "Only if it does not dispute, the world cannot contend with it."
Only by holding an indisputable attitude towards life can no one in the world compete with it. Lao Tzu thinks that self-righteousness is more prominent if he doesn't show himself; Do not praise yourself, so you have achievements; I think I am not virtuous, so I am respected. If you don't argue, you will be invincible.
The so-called "not struggling" does not mean not working hard. To a large extent, it means "compromising yourself in order to make others better", if it is really necessary under the right circumstances. But Lao Tzu does not want to compromise himself blindly, or indulge himself blindly, and find himself a lofty excuse to paralyze his thoughts.
When you encounter problems that you can't face and solve in your life, you can avoid them in a forbearing way, improve your ability, wait and see, and then act when you find an opportunity. In fact, this is a dialectical way of thinking, to retreat for progress, to give up is to gain, to be subtle is to show, and not to make progress is the biggest! As we usually say, no requirement is the biggest requirement!
It is yours, not yours. Don't argue Laozi believes that wise men can show weakness and hide strength at the most appropriate time and make concessions. Laozi has always advocated: retreat, defense, weakness and softness. If you don't argue, you will be invincible.
Fourth, altruism.
"Good if water. Water is good for all things without dispute, and evil for all, so it is a few words. Living in a good place, kind-hearted, kind-hearted, good at words, good at politics, good at doing things, good at dealing with people. This sentence means that the highest good deeds are like running water. Running water only nourishes everything, and will not fight against everything. Running water is always in a low-lying place, which runs counter to people's positive development and pursuit, and is naturally hated by people. The status of water is similar to the Tao of inaction. People should find an excellent environment to live in, be good at exploring some profound academics, be good at talking about benevolence and righteousness when dealing with people, be good at management when in power, give full play to their talents when doing things, and be good at choosing good opportunities when doing great things. But don't argue with others, so there will be no mistakes.
Altruistic thinking: when dealing with the relationship between interests (material and spirit), we should not only think about the present, but also think about the future; Think not only of yourself, but also of others.
The specific content of altruistic thinking: 1. Only by considering others will others consider themselves. Only by thinking about the future can we face the present with anxiety. 3. Essential altruism can be true and self-interested. 4. Help yourself overcome selfish human weakness.
Lao Tzu said that water is good for everything. One of the important reasons why Laozi praised water is that water contains altruistic spirit. What is truly invincible in this world? Confucianism says that the benevolent is invincible. This has something in common with Lao Tzu. Only altruistic people are invincible.
Only altruistic people can have spiritual structure and spiritual height. On the other hand, if you are just blinded by your own selfish desires, you can't see the problem, and you can't do it without your own desires, then you will always be a frog in the well.
Verb (short for verb) overcomes oneself.
He who knows others is wise, and he who knows himself is wise. The winner is strong, and the winner is strong. Those who are satisfied are rich, and those who are forced are ambitious.
No one is perfect, everyone has his own weaknesses and shortcomings. When thinking about problems and doing things, we will inevitably have some defects, and we can't achieve the best of both worlds. Therefore, we must dare to admit our own shortcomings and realize our own weaknesses, so that there is room for learning. Only by learning from each other's strengths can we constantly overcome our weaknesses and make ourselves stronger.
The so-called victory over yourself is to jump out of your existing way of thinking.
Laozi believes that being able to understand others is called wit, and being able to know yourself is called wisdom and understanding; Similarly, a person who can beat others can only show that this person is capable, and only a person who can beat himself can be called strong.
Sixth, keep soft and attach importance to women's wisdom.
I admire the wisdom of the weak. He said: people are born weak and die strong. The life of vegetation is soft and brittle, and it dies and dries up. Therefore, the strong die and the weak live. It is the power of the army that destroys it, and the power of wood will be folded. Strong place, weak place.
People's bodies are soft when they are alive, but they become stiff after death. Weak things know more about change. For example, a tree is elastic when it is alive and can swing with the wind when it comes. The dead tree hardened and the wind blew it away.
Laozi realized that weak things contain toughness, vitality, huge development space and persistence. Therefore, in the opposition between weakness and strength, Laozi asserts that weakness is better than strength.
There are many examples of "weakness conquers strength", and the most typical one is water. Lao Tzu said that the world is weaker than water, and the strong are invincible.
In other words, there is nothing weaker than water in the world, and nothing can defeat it in conquering something strong. Water has changed its seemingly weak and humble characteristics with the power of flowing. Water can penetrate rocks, flood fields and destroy houses, and no powerful force can stop it or defeat it.
Seven, we should pay attention to the value of "nothing"
Lao Tzu pointed out that 30 spokes * * * a wheel hub, there is no time, there is a car. Think of it as a device. When it is useless, it will be useful. Carve the family into a room, and when it has nothing, it has a room. Therefore, thinking is beneficial, but thinking is not. ?
Thirty spokes converge into a hole in a hub. Only when there is a hollow place in the hub can the car play its role. Knead clay to make utensils. Only when there is a hollow place in the container can it function as a container. Dig doors and windows to build a house, and use the empty parts in the doors and windows walls to have the function of the house. Therefore, "having" brings convenience to people, and "not having" plays a role.
You must see the value of "nothing" when you do things. The interior of the basin is "nothing", so it can hold things; The interior of the house is "empty", so people can live in it. Of course, all this is absolutely nothing. Here we mean intangible and invisible things, such as credit and morality, but we must know its value.
? "Tao Te Ching" said: Being born without anything, walking without relying on it, and being long without killing it is called Xuande.
It is a mysterious and profound virtue to plant everything without being for yourself, to nurture everything without relying on self-reliance, and to guide everything without dominating.
Tao is the internal order, information and growth energy of all things. Tao is embodied in people, that is, it is as kind as maternal love and teachers. After reading Xuande, I learned to be willing. Giving up is not only teaching us to give up, but also retiring after success.
Born without, walk without relying on, grow without killing, make contributions without taking possession of yourself, can put it down calmly, and put it down when it is time to put it down. In other words, you must work hard to make a career or achievement before you can talk about it. Some people think that giving up is passive giving up, which is obviously a big fallacy.
Tao Te Ching also said: It is better to persist than to have it; If you are sharp, you can't keep it for long; Happy from now on, can't keep it; Being rich and arrogant is to blame.
Instead of holding excess, it is better to stop loss in time; It's hard to stay sharp for a long time when you show your edge. Since then, I have been happy and can't stay in Tibet; If wealth reaches the level of arrogance, it is your own curse. If a thing is done successfully, it is necessary to exercise restraint, which is in line with the laws of nature.
Laozi warned us that we should see the value of "nothing" whether we are a person or doing things. Pots, cups and other utensils are "empty" and can hold things; The house built by a man is "empty", so he can live in it. It is easy for people to see what they see, but they ignore the value of "nothing"
Eight, maintain a surprise, strong and tenacious thinking.
Laozi said: rule the country with righteousness, use troops with strangeness, and take the world with nothing. It means to govern the country with "righteousness", lead troops to fight with "strangeness" and achieve the world with "nothing".
It represents some principles, and strangeness represents breaking the rules. In our daily life, we should know how to think correctly and strangely. First of all, we must respect the rules. Some things must be well-founded and orderly, but we must also know how to break away from convention and be flexible and innovative.
Only by bringing benefits to others can we realize our own value. The test of our work is whether we can bring happiness and benefits to others, not create pain and trouble. Pay first, you will get a reward, and you will win if you suffer. The premise of personal reward is giving, and the reward is obtained after others accept and recognize your contribution.
It's amazing to be honest. Integrity is the right way, the right way, strangeness is unexpected, and integrity is the right way to abide by the law in business. Break through thinking and win by surprise. Is to spend 70% of your time thinking about "positive" things and 30% of your time studying flexibility. Neither stick to the rules nor innovate, only in this way can we win in the business war.
In short, it is a small victory with wisdom and a big victory with virtue.
