What are the customs in early winter?
1, folk He Dong
He Dong, also known as "winter worship", had this custom in the Han Dynasty. Cui Ding's "Four-person Moon Order" in the Eastern Han Dynasty: "On the day of the winter solstice, wine and food are served, respecting the teacher of the old gentleman and welcoming it as a sunny day." On this day in the Song Dynasty, people put on new clothes and celebrated exchanges, just like New Year's Day. In the Qing dynasty, "the solstice is the winter solstice, and the literati pay homage to their elders and pay tribute to each other." Fine people, men and women, also bow to each other with fresher clothes, which is called "worship of winter" (see Ting Anne Lu, Volume XI). Since the Republic of China, the traditional customs of Hedong seem to have been simplified. However, some activities are gradually fixed, stylized and more universal. For example, in winter schools, teacher-worshipping activities are held in winter.
2. Winter swimming begins
Nowadays, some places celebrate beginning of winter in innovative ways. In Harbin, Heilongjiang, Shangqiu, Henan, Yichun, Jiangxi, Wuhan, Hubei and other places, winter swimmers welcome the arrival of winter in this way. Winter swimming is people's favorite exercise in winter, whether in the north or the south.
3, beginning of winter food supplement
After beginning of winter, it means that this year's winter has officially arrived. Vegetation withers, stingers sleep, and all activities tend to stop. Although there is no such thing as hibernation, there is a folk custom of making up for winter in beginning of winter.
4. Northern jiaozi
People in northern China, especially those in Beijing and Tianjin, like to eat jiaozi. Why does beginning of winter eat jiaozi? Because intercourse comes from the saying of "sexual intercourse time". New Year's Eve is to say goodbye to the old and welcome the new, and beginning of winter is the turn of autumn and winter. When jiaozi is in love, he can't help eating. Nowadays, people have gradually restored this ancient custom. At the beginning of winter, all kinds of jiaozi are very popular.
5. Vegetable cultivation
After beginning of winter, we should do a good job in greenhouse construction in time. At the same time, do a good job in the management of greenhouse vegetables. When the temperature is high during the day, you can uncover the film at the back air outlet for ventilation, and pay attention to the sealing of the greenhouse at night. In North China and Huanghuai areas, when the average temperature of the day drops to about 4℃, and the soil in the field freezes at night and disappears during the day, we must seize the opportunity to water the winter water of wheat, vegetables and orchards, replenish soil moisture, improve the microclimate environment in the field, prevent "drought to help the cold" and reduce and avoid freezing injury.
Talk to everyone. Beginning of winter eats more vegetables. There are fewer fruits and vegetables this season, and the human body will lack more vitamins, which will lead to some diseases. At this time, more potatoes should be added, such as potatoes and sweet potatoes, which are rich in vitamin C, vitamin B and vitamin A. Red-heart sweet potatoes also contain more carotene. Eating more potatoes can not only supplement vitamins, but also clear the fire.
